In Madrid, there’s a big street in the centre called Callao. I remember being there with my mum and pointing to one of the big film posters and saying, ‘I want to be up there.’ That was my dream, and I got it.
Fall of the Berlin wall? Being there was fun. Nations that flaked off of the Soviet Union in southeastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus? Being there was not so fun.

I think it’s just being good every single day and being there for my teammates. I know that I can’t do it alone, and they can’t do it alone, and we’ve got to lean on each other.
What is important is the reliability of my posts being there to greet my fans with a smile or a giggle every morning. That’s how we keep on growing.
We have no chance to comprehend what goes on there – it’s so dramatic, and people are so poor. We all felt bad about being there. Filming in India felt like we were going to borrow something knowing that we were never going to give it back.
To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there.
Presence is more than just being there.
I’ve watched ‘Being There’ over 50 times, and every time I watch it, I love every frame. I just wish I had directed it myself.

I enjoy co-directing or even being there just for support because you get to see your script come to aural life in front of you.
Crucially, I’d like to thank Labour party members up and down the country for sticking with us. For their active citizenship, their willingness to engage in our democracy, and for being there at the cutting edge of making our democracy work.
Those minutes that I’m on stage are the best! Being there and looking at the crowd and seeing their faces, hearing them sing the positive words from the songs.
I like America; I enjoy being there. Some people can’t stand the insincerity – I love the waiter asking me how my day has been, the can-do culture there. I love the fact that again, you are visible in America. You turn the TV on, there are black politicians, black policemen, black soldiers.
Nothing makes you more tolerant of a neighbor’s noisy party than being there.
When Bindi and Robert have grown, there will probably be another life for me, and I can’t anticipate exactly what that will be, but it will involve continuing Steve’s work, conservation, being there for my kids, Australia Zoo.
I have social anxiety. It’s easier up on stage because there’s security in being there. When I’m off stage I’m trying not to be a manic freak. I’m quite shy.
If a guy works, and he has children, it’s good, and he doesn’t feel the same guilt about not being there for the children as a woman would. With a woman, there’s that pull: ‘Oh, I should be home,’ when she’s at work, and ‘Oh, I should be at work,’ when she’s at home.
When you’re the host of the Academy Awards, and you grew up watching Bob Hope and Johnny Carson, and now it’s your turn, and you get a chance to run with the baton on the relay for a while, I really embraced it and just really loved being there.
I’m a great believer in governments doing as little as possible and people power doing the rest, so I’m in favour of governments being there to govern in the areas that need governing, not a whole heap of other things that they stick their sticky fingers into.
All Pro Dad is an organization that started down in Tampa in 1997. And it was just a group of us who felt like we weren’t doing as good a job as our fathers did in connecting with kids and being there and being involved in their lives, working and coaching and spending all the time we had to. We just felt badly.
I will throw all my best efforts into it, my thoughts and political observations, but ultimately I want to create a narrative that keeps you turning the pages and leaves you with a sense that this thing has a reason for being there.
What is the natural reaction when told you have a hopeless mental illness? That diagnosis does you in; that, and the humiliation of being there. I mean, the indignity you’re subjected to. My God.
I was born in London, and my family is here. America is an interesting place, but it’s incredibly different culturally. It doesn’t take long being there before I want to get back.
Honestly, I really, really love making movies. It’s so much fun, and I love losing myself in the moment and just being there with other actors. When you’re truly in the moment and you’re feeding each other, it’s such an exciting thing to be a part of.
My family taught me about that, about being the leader, being there for your teammates and caring about everything during the game, after the game, before the game.
No government prospers by saying, ‘I don’t need to do anything. Just by being there, we have made the country thrive.’
I enjoyed 12-plus years in TNA, but in the end, I didn’t like being there doing what I was doing. That was my issue. I needed to get away.
The high point was that the people are really nice – despite the crazy politics – and I loved being there. The hardest part was knowing some of the things I was probably going to write about Texas would make those nice people very unhappy.
I remember being in New Orleans after Katrina hearing people calling, ‘Help me,’ and wanting to slide down in the seat of my car because it felt like I was invading their suffering. But I also know that our being there gave them a voice.
Salman was an amazing human being. There are lot of things about him for years, but he’s one of the most genuine, helpful guys out there. There’s Salman Khan the superhero, and there’s that gentle guy who pulls out a charcoal pencil and comes up with some soulful, pure art pieces.
I walked away from the Jive Records situation, but I still have a great relationship with a lot of the workers and a lot of people who were in that system that have moved on to other places. I felt like being there; it totally wasn’t understood what the Raheem DeVaughn movement was about.
I could always imagine more interesting places to be than where I was. And more interesting people than me being there. Eventually, this led to making up stories and writing things down.
If people can’t relate to something, there’s no use of the song being there.
Some artists send their verses, and others record in my studio. Depends. I prefer them being there.
Toby not being there doesn’t bother me, I mean I can work with anybody as long as we get along and as long as they’ve got an understanding of what I want and what I’m aiming for. To start with, when he left, it was difficult.
Watching sunrise and sunset from space, which is a beautiful sight, has been a personal privilege I have attained while being there. Another reflection from within I felt was that there was nothing which was neither visible and nor with a supportive environment as to how Planet Earth is.
I know just enough Japanese to get by if I get lost and greet an audience properly, just from having a lot of Japanese friends and being there over the years.
I’ve enjoyed it, I have seen it once at the premiere in London and it was very nice to be invited there. But I do want to see it again now. I want to sit and watch it as a fan rather than being there at the premiere with all the lights and such.
It’s all good being there for people when things are going well and smoothly but what really comes through is how you operate with someone when they need you the most.
When you go to a concert, part of being there is that you’re all hearing the same thing. It’s about being in a crowd. If you go to a gig and there are two people there, then it’s not the same thing.
I’ve always loved reporting from the field most of all. There’s something about doing live TV and being there as it happens that’s always appealed to me. I think there’s great value to bearing witness to these events as they’re actually happening.
I intentionally aided them by being there and blocking an avenue of escape for the victims.
I credit NTI, truthfully, with everything as far as where my head is and what my goals are and dreams are. I would say it was probably one of the most influential moments of my life, being there.

Even in my hometown of Linkoping where I grew up… the church we had was very lavish – very boasty. So it ticked most of the boxes of big, imposing Christianity. And I love being there if I’m in town… because it’s just this haunting place.
For me, every show that’s about teachers – and there’s been a number of them – they’re like misfits who hate the kids and don’t want to be there and hate their jobs. For me, having crazy parents, my teachers were the sane people who raised me, and they liked being there.
