‘Until Friday Night’ is the first book in my new young adult series, ‘The Field Party.’
Some had the custom of receiving the Eucharist daily, some twice a week, some on the Lord’s day, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, some only on the Lord’s Day.
I am a late discoverer of ‘Friday Night Lights.’ I cry every episode at least once. I love to cry – happy, emotional tears. I just love it.
I play tennis five hours a week, from Monday to Friday, for one hour every day. I like to be fit. If I can’t exercise, I feel bad – I need to sweat and run to feel like I’m in good shape.
It takes more than driving to become an IndyCar driver. Gone are the days when drivers show up Friday morning and go home Sunday night. We’re all integral to our partnerships, commercially, motorsports. We’re as much champions in the boardroom as we are on the racetrack.
After a really hectic week, I hate going out on a Friday evening, so I’ll always opt for a night at home.
I’m the kind of guy who, I need a watch that tells me what day it is. I need to know it’s Friday on my watch. I need to look at it and go, ‘Friday today.’ Tomorrow I will not know it’s Saturday until I look at my watch. My watchband broke, I was crippled. I have no concept of time, I have no concept of dates.
Clearly, the works of John Carpenter and Sam Raimi are front and center here. Argento is definitely there. But even stuff like the ‘Friday the 13th’ movies had quite an influence on me growing up.
‘Friday’ is about hanging out with friends, having fun. I felt like it was my personality in that song.
After school I went to work at a builders’ merchant in Stoke. After we finished on a Friday, it was down to the Duke of York for a drink with my mates and a game of darts. Unfortunately for them I had a natural talent and nobody could beat me.
We want to replace all the T.G.I. Friday’s, Applebee’s – at a price point that is arguably even lower than those guys.
Something that I learned from ‘Friday Night Lights,’ sometimes if you have four or five scenes in an episode, it’s not having less than having 10. It’s what you do with those scenes.
Doing a sitcom is like doing a play – you rehearse for three or four days, and then you shoot what you rehearsed on Friday night in front of an audience. An hour-long drama is like shooting a movie. You’re shooting 13-14 hour days. The endurance itself is different.
I was just finishing up ‘Spotlight’ in Toronto – I finished it on a Tuesday and started ‘True Detective’ on a Friday. So I was missing rehearsals, unfortunately, which I hate and why I never like to work back-to-back.
Having been raised very disciplined, I had to iron for my mom every Friday afternoon after school.
My wife and I take what we call our Friday comedy day off. We watch standup comics on TV. The raunchier the better. We love Eddie Izzard.
I’ve taught fifth-year Christmas leavers last thing on a Friday afternoon. Basically, if you can face that you can face anything.
Where I grew up in the middle of Georgia, hip-hop is king, and on Friday and Saturday nights, local DJs do mixes. It’s a great mix of local stuff and then some of the bigger hits and remixes of the hits, and it just has this nice flow with a dirty-South sound to everything.
On a Friday night, I switch on my log burner, stick on ‘Gardeners’ World’ and I am so happy.
‘Freaky Friday’ was really fun. They had a ping-pong table on set because Jamie Lee Curtis is really good at ping-pong. She’s awesome at it. And they had a tournament, and we would play during filming. Whoever won the tournament would get to keep the table. I think it was Jamie who kept it.
The Foxy character and Inga Marchand are two different people. My fiance calls me Inga. No one around me calls me Foxy. I go to church every Sunday. I go to Bible study every Friday night. I’m saved.
I was lucky enough to be in the studio with Drake and Kanye before I put ‘Freaky Friday’ out. I showed them the video before I put it out.
Without getting too spiritual, God has done so much for me; the least I can do is drink Kiddush wine on a Friday night.
My weekends start at about 4 P.M. on Friday afternoon, when I let go of work and leave my colleagues to crawl through the rest of the day in our New York offices.

I’m not a person who would get up at 5 A.M. to write, but I could sacrifice my Friday night and just order in dinner, sit at home and get into it.
We have to make sure the Good Friday Agreement works.
A friend, Sean Cunningham, who went on to do ‘Friday the 13th,’ was given a small budget to produce a scary movie, and he told me to write something. I’d never seen a horror film in my life; I’d fallen in love with Fellini.
Baddiel is a slightly quizzical name – it comes from Latvia but people thought it sounded vaguely Hindustani or something. I thought it might be a good idea to write a body swap movie, like ‘Trading Places’ or ‘Freaky Friday,’ about somebody who believes they are one thing but suddenly become another.
Movies are a big thing in our house. Every Friday, we do family pizza night, and we make pizza from scratch, and then we sit down and watch a movie.
Friday is my night for letting my hair down, and once a month a group of my old male friends will come down and stay at our house in Hampshire.
There are two tests in life, more important than any other test. On Monday morning, when you wake up, do you feel in the pit of your stomach you can’t wait to go to work? And when you’re ready to go home Friday afternoon, do you say, ‘I can’t wait to go home?’
Everyone from Pullman porters to hostesses at swank New York parties will tell me they always watch ‘Miss Brooks’ on Friday night.
My aunt had a season ticket for the Friday afternoon concerts, and I would go down for lessons. My lessons were Saturday morning.
When I was 13, my family moved from a suburb of New York City to Miami, Florida, and we moved there the Friday before Labor Day weekend.
The Good Friday Agreement was an incredible breakthrough. But it’s my view that the Hillsborough Agreement could see politics in the north come of age, and see us all move forwards on the basis of equality and partnership.
Work hard. I got tenure a year early. Junior faculty members used to say to me: ‘Wow, what’s your secret?’ I said: ‘It’s pretty simple. Call me any Friday night in my office at 10 o’clock, and I’ll tell you.’
I like to be home on a Friday night. I don’t go out. I don’t go to clubs. It’s not my thing. I sit at home with my glass of wine and watch hours of reality TV.
I feel like maybe I’m part of that generation that became more of a gamer than a video consumer. It’s always been something I’ve done with my spare time. If I had three hours on a Friday night, I’m not out partying. I’m probably playing video games.
TV kind of worked out naturally for me. I was fortunate to do a show like ‘Breaking Bad’ and then go straight into something like ‘Friday Night Lights.’ It’s not something I focus on, but when they’re great projects, I can’t pass them up.
A lot of Friday nights, Guru and I would go kick it with Biggie, since he was just three blocks down from us.
The Hamptons are filled with people who are winners Monday through Friday.
Football-wise, I help with my 12-year-old and his team, and I play football on a Friday with my mates and that’s about it. I always look out for results at Rovers and Southampton mainly, and I go and watch Liverpool when I can.
I used to carry a bag of records down to my friend’s house every Friday, and we’d sit down and play all the records I loved, and we’d look at the album covers.
I have a lot of favorite films. I tend to love the silliness of ‘Bringing Up Baby.’ ‘Charade’ is fantastic. ‘His Girl Friday,’ the banter in that, that alone made me want to be a writer.
If you decide to go clubbing on a Friday night, and you’re home before two A.M., you’re not a man’s man.
The government’s view is that the best time to announce bad news, news that it doesn’t want the public to dwell on is late on a Friday, when it will wind up in the Saturday papers, which if you were readers, then the week day editions. A holiday weekend is even better.
To me, country music’s about life. It’s about Monday through Friday. It’s the blue-collar, 40-hour week, songs about life. It used to have more of a sound, but I think the heart of that’s still the same. It’s still American music.
You know when you’re a kid and you get to pick a movie every Friday? I watched everything. There’s no particular genre that was appealing. I just loved the idea that you could dress up and play.
‘Friday Night Lights’ was an incredible show.
I liked Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday.’
#GivingTuesday is the perfect cyber-counterbalance to Black Friday and emphasizes giving back in this era of mass consumption.
The problem with writing a book in verse is, to be successful, it has to sound like you knocked it off on a rainy Friday afternoon. It has to sound easy. When you can do it, it helps tremendously because it’s a thing that forces kids to read on. You have this unconsummated feeling if you stop.
