Generally, the view that I’ve had on Twitter is if you’re on Twitter, you’re in, like, the meme – you’re in meme war land. If you’re on Twitter, you’re in the arena. And so, essentially, if you attack me, it is therefore OK for me to attack back.

I don’t really care much about being a meme. That’s not what I want to be known for, as being a meme from 2016. That’s not what I’m here for.

As for memes, the word ‘meme’ is a cliche, which is to say it’s already a meme. We all hear it all the time, and maybe we even have started to use it in ordinary speech. The man who invented it was Richard Dawkins, who was, not coincidentally, an evolutionary biologist. And he invented it as an analog for the gene.

Memes just show that people are engaged about something. A meme is just a little inside joke for a group of people that care about a certain thing.

I was active on Facebook for a while, responding to comments and thanking fans for their appreciation. But I found that the Facebook feed was numbing my emotions. I’d see an extraordinarily tragic news item, and even before I could react to it, see a hilarious meme right below it. This was confusing me.

I have a great sense of humor, I mean even when my meme came out I reposted it. I didn’t care. I was laughing, too!

Memes can be visual. Our image of George Washington is a meme. We don’t actually have any idea what George Washington looked like. There are so many different portraits of him, and they’re all different. But we have an image in our head, and that image is propagated from one place to another, from one person to another.

It’s obviously funny to be a meme, so I could be down with it in that regard, but it also belittles one’s art.

The only thing that can blow away the Michael Jordan sad face meme, is the Floyd Mayweather knockout meme. If Floyd Mayweather got knocked out – knocked out to the point where he is ice cold on the ground – I think that’s the one meme that can just overwhelm the whole Jordan issue.

I run a meme type of account on Twitter; I know what my audience is looking for.

God exists, if only in the form of a meme with high survival value, or infective power, in the environment provided by human culture.
