Eggs give me protein after a good work out. The cheesier, the better!
Protein bars, protein flapjacks, protein granola, protein ice cream and protein coconut water… To look at the health-food aisles, you’d think that protein was a substance no one could overeat. Even bread now comes in protein-enriched form.
As an athlete, the most important thing is the protein that you eat and the things that you put into your body. Without that, it’s very hard to function throughout the day.
During the season, one of the most important things to eat is the carbs. Protein’s really important, too, but it’s the carbs that are important because I have to consistently refuel for the next day.
I try to get in some extra carbohydrates and protein the night before and during my pre-match meal. I also eat about 200 calories right after to help rebuild my muscles.
I always have applesauce in my fridge, and when traveling I take protein bars just in case I get hungry. They’re my go-to snack.
As people around the world become more affluent, they are demanding diets richer in animal protein, which will require ever more robust feed crop yields to sustain.
I am a dichotomy of tastes. I’m big on water, and I do a protein drink in the morning, but then I eat off the kids’ menu after that. So, there’s only like six foods I like. I like quesadillas. I like hamburgers. I like sushi. I like pizza, PB&J, or breakfast any time of the day.
I never thought I’d be an expert at sword fighting, I never thought I’d be an expert in protein powders – I’m close to being an expert in both. It’s great!
I always run in the morning on an empty stomach, and I’ll go through a bottle and a half of water. Then I have a protein drink or I eat egg whites.
Now that I’m an adult and have a big say in what we eat on Christmas Day, turkey doesn’t even make it on to the starting grid for consideration. It isn’t just my least favourite meat; it’s my least favourite protein.
When you eat a piece of white bread, think of it as putting a tissue on a fire. But if you eat something that has wholegrains, whether it’s a little bit of oatmeal, a little bit of protein, it’s like putting a log on the fire.
As a rule I start the day with a delicious health cocktail which includes soya protein powder, porridge oats, water, vitamin C, sunflower seeds and honey, plus Dr Udo’s Ultimate Oil Blend for all the essential fatty acids your body needs.
I use this GPB glycogen protein balancing conditioner by Aubrey Organics that I love.

I will make a ton of meat and fish and poultry on Sunday and then again on Wednesday. It’s not always easy to get protein if you don’t prepare in advance.
If I have my breakfast after my workout, I’ll do a shaker with whey protein, chia, greens powder, and maca. When I get out, I’ll put ice in the shaker with coconut water, shake it, and have it for breakfast.
I drink protein shakes when I travel. That is how I maintain myself, and I exercise six days a week.
We have found that fusions of GFP with the RING finger domains of certain E3 ubiquitin ligases creates an unstable GFP. We have used unstable GFP to learn how disruption of microtubules in the touch receptor neurons causes a generalized reduction in protein levels in the cells.
I get meals when I can, or I have protein shakes.
The group who really could benefit from more protein is not fit young gym-goers but older people, who seem to be at much greater risk of protein deficiency.
Using the power of protein engineering and evolution, we can convince enzymes to take what they do poorly and do it really well.
I have to make sure I get the right amount of protein and iron, and I take supplements for that. I think people would be surprised if they saw my diet, though; it’s very normal.
It might seem strange to feast on Guinea pig, but Ecuadorians love to eat cuy. Personally, I think it’s a phenomenal alternative to pork or chicken. High in protein, low in fat, cheap and easy to raise. Oh, and cuy tastes great, much like roast pig. You might call it a pet, but I prefer to call it dinner.
The highest-quality protein in nature is whey.
On a normal day, I crawl out of bed before 8 A.M., have a protein shake, chuck my gym kit on, and go for a class or personal-training session. When I’m back, I’ll have poached eggs with salmon or spinach for breakfast before my stylists arrive to do my hair – which takes ages. I then go wherever I am needed.
I always bring a post-workout protein shake with me and some cereal for the mornings.
Nuts have gotten a bad rap because of their high fat content. But their protein, heart-healthy fats, high fibre, and antioxidant content earn them a place in your daily diet. I often say ‘less is more,’ and portion control is key to healthfully enjoying nuts.
I had to look for food all the time. I had to catch dragonflies, grasshoppers, and that was the only source of protein for me.
There are certain times of the day when you need a balance – that is, your protein and your carbs. I’m a Barry Sears man. I believe that anything green is a carb, and I need 2:1. Two of the carbs to one of the protein.

Protein, we keep being told, is the vital nutrient that will give us a boost. It will burn fat, build muscle, reduce tiredness and kill our hunger pangs. Maybe if we shake enough protein powder into our daily smoothie, we will actually morph into Gwyneth Paltrow.
For breakfast, I juice a big green juice, and I try to get in as much raw food and protein as I can, obviously plant proteins and legumes, but sometimes it’s late at night, and there’s a frozen pizza in there, and sometimes it’s all you’ve got! You don’t have the energy to chop up a bunch of vegetables.

Being an athlete, you try to get protein.
What you don’t do, if you’re an adult, is decide that you’re going to budget things through a sequester. What does that word have to do with budgeting? It’s like if you have a family budget and go, ‘We really don’t know what to take out economically from the budget, so we’re going to whack out protein for this week.’
