I’m running because it is past time that Tennessee’s 4th Congressional District be represented by someone who is a true conservative and who represents who we are in the Volunteer State.

As a member of the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus and the Co-Chair of the Invasive Species Caucus, I’ll continue to be an independent voice for our district.

I am very proud of my public record and the many accomplishments of my office. It has been a tremendous honor to represent the 6th District of Texas for over three decades, but now it is time to step aside and let there be a new voice.

I’ve given some money to the scholarships in the District of Columbia, to the best students in D.C… many of the students have written me letters telling me they could not have afforded to go to college without the scholarship and money I’ve given them.

If Scott Brown can win in a state that President Obama won by 26 points, I can win in a district that Obey won by just 20 points against an unknown, underfunded challenger in the Democratic landslide of 2008. It means there is not a single Democrat in the country who is safe.

I owe my life to my father. I remember that my first Christmas present was a ball. In the district where we lived, there weren’t many kids who had one.

When I left the San Francisco DA’s office, I went down to the Los Angeles district attorney’s office, and I was able to try a tremendous amount – very serious cases and working in gang neighborhoods, impoverished neighborhoods – really make a difference and be impactful in those communities.

Anne Marie Schubert is one of the most horrible district attorneys in the state of California. She represents Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions. It’s no wonder she continuously refuses to hold the police accountable for violence against people of color.

Our children await Christmas presents like politicians getting in election returns: there’s the Uncle Fred precinct and the Aunt Ruth district still to come in.

‘District 9’ was a singular anti-Apartheid metaphor, and ‘Elysium’ is a more general metaphor about immigration and how the First World and Third World meet. But the thing that I like the most about the metaphor is that it can be scaled to suit almost any scenario.

The 1st Congressional District contains almost half of the biotech and biomedical companies in Washington, and my job often allows me to meet the people responsible for this exciting research.

Wherever I go – be it to school events, county fairs, town halls, or even the grocery store, my neighbors and constituents share the same serious concern. Prescription drug prices keep going up, and families across our district don’t know how they can afford them.

Electing radical reformers as district attorneys is huge. It’s essential.

Every district is going to be different, but if you wanted me to give advice to those candidates: Run your own campaign, the DCCC does not run your campaign. Figure out ways to raise money from small-dollar donors, and put some real energy into that because that will give you freedom to say no to big donors.

Penn State University is also nationally recognized for the exceptional research and patient care provided at the College of Medicine, located in my Congressional District in Hershey, PA.

Personally, in my home, the district in central New York, the Air National Guard base, not 5 years ago, the commandant came through and said, This is one of the sorriest looking bases I have ever seen.

Never in the history of ‘The Shield’ was the word ‘LAPD’ ever mentioned. We would mention districts, like Wilshire and Hollenbeck and Marina, but Farmington was a fictitious district, and we never actually uttered the word ‘LAPD.’ So that was sort of the deal we made with them.

My goal is to have a simple lottery to help our people and solve a decades old problem dealing with our general fund, particularly Medicaid. Let us solve this together and allow the people in your district the right to be a part of the process with a vote.

The prison industrial complex, to put it in its crassest term, is a system of industrial mass incarceration. So there’s what you call bureaucratic thrust behind it. It’s hard to shut off because politicians rely upon the steady flow of jobs to their district that the prison system and its related industries promise.

In Uttar Pradesh there is a district called Shahjahanpur. Fifty kilometers from Shahjahanpur, there is a small, cosy village called Kulra, where my entire family lives.
