I didn’t know what it meant or what it took to be healthy and be prepared for 82-plus games… Injuries come with sports. I know that. But you can be prepared, get your body as prepared as it can be through practice and weights.
It’s the same with most injuries, different players take different amounts of time.
The numbers are there just to help you – at the end of the day you’ve still got to make the decision. There are certain things the numbers can’t quantify: They can’t quantify injuries, they can’t quantify the weather, they can’t give you a number on whether the referee’s going to make a good call or a bad call.

I had many injuries.
I’ve been so close on so many occasions and had so many horrendous injuries. You go from hamstring tear to hamstring tear and achilles problems and then you get MS! But you’ve got to keep going, which I did and I’ve got the kit and a world record and the world title.
If you’re in the NFL for more than five minutes you see that you can be here today and gone tomorrow. That’s why I played the way I did. I think that’s why I worked hard to not miss a game, fight through injuries and all that stuff because when it’s gone, it’s gone.
As a manager, you always want as many players available as possible, but injuries are a part of football, as it is a contact sport.
Injuries aren’t anything foreign to me. I am used to overcoming illness and injury; you can’t complain about it. When you’re standing up there on the blocks, it doesn’t really matter: it’s all about the next minute.
We avoided injuries that season. It was our fourth year with Vince, so we all knew just what he wanted. And a lot of our core guys were in their prime. It was an incredible season.
I had to face a lot coming through this journey, a lot of sacrifices, difficulties, challenges, and injuries.
If you have injuries, it’s tough.
Kids’ brains are developing. Their heads are a larger part of their body, and their necks are not as strong as adults’ necks. So kids may be at a greater risk of head and brain injuries than adults.
I haven’t had many injuries, and I know that’s because I take care of my body, and I do the things that I need to do to keep it strong.
Our schedule is intense. We do this for five nights a week, so injuries can happen very easily with the demands of the job. It’s just the nature of what we do and sports in general.
When Robben joined Chelsea in 2004 nobody realised how good he was. He was seen as an excellent player rather than a world-class one, and he suffered a lot with injuries. In the years since, he has elevated his game.
There are injuries nobody’s even around the guy, and the guy’s getting hurt.
Asics shoes are known to be the best in the world and I am sure they will limit some of the injuries that I had before.
In the offseason the priority is for us to get healthy, to best try to optimize our physical qualities, get faster, stronger – make sure our body is prepared for this long run and in a good place to try to prevent injuries.
Head and neck injuries are what parents thinking about letting their children play tackle football should be thinking about, talking about, and demanding answers about, from any coach presenting himself as a worthy custodian for their child’s introduction to tackle football.
I’ve paid the price over the years, though: a lot of injuries and surgeries related to my sports career; my hips and knees took a lot of wear and tear.
I’ve been playing more regularly in 2015 because of injuries but also because of technical decisions.
Your cruciate ligament, like many long-term injuries… when they come back they’re expected to be what they were before the injury. While fit it sometimes takes a little bit longer for some than others.
Even in high school, when I had injuries, I tried to play with them. When I shouldn’t have worked out, I worked out.
I haven’t had any injuries since I’ve had my kid, so I think it’s changed my body externally and internally. I don’t know what it is, but I hadn’t felt so great, body-wise, until I had my kid. I look more in shape, and I feel more in shape. And speaking from a confidence side, it’s changed me in such a positive way.
It is the Band which unites the Interests of Individuals; it secures to them their respective Rights, and preserves them from Injuries; it is the Source of numberless Blessings, which are interrupted, or wholly vanish, the Moment it is disturbed.
Rotation should be natural and changes should be made only when there are injuries and suspensions.
Ever since my early teens, I’ve tried to swing the driver very fast. Back then, it was as fast as I could. But now that I’m 24, I’m working to dial back some of that speed, knowing I have an extra gear if needed. The goal is to protect myself from injuries down the road – especially to my back.
As long as we’re wearing helmets and shoulder pads – there’s collisions between these big, physical, fast guys – head injuries are going to be a part of it.
A lot of professional dancers become professional when they turn 15 or 16 years old, when they’re still children. So you’ve trained every single waking moment up until that point for a career that could maybe only last 10 years, maybe longer if your body holds up, if your injuries are kept at bay.
Injuries are part of life. We can’t decide on that.
If I could change on thing about myself, I would: Have better knees. Mine are shot because of injuries. You’re only as good as your legs, whether you’re an athlete or an actor.

It’s unfair to think that we can do what we do with the intensity that we do it and expect injuries to not happen.
Injuries weren’t the reason why I retired. I retired on my own terms.
Anytime you think about ring rust and travel and camps back-to-back, it helps not having any bad injuries and being able to train consistently.
I don’t regret the decision to retire. My body was losing its edge. I was taking longer to recover from injuries. You have to get out at some point.
I don’t think it’s very masculine to whine about your injuries.
Going in, you want to play a perfect season and play throughout the whole entire season, but injuries are a part of basketball.
When you’re young, you don’t think very far ahead. You just think in terms of the next day, the next week, the next competition. You don’t think about injuries that could threaten your long-term health.
I think that’s one of the things I’ve learned through my injuries is that I need to play smarter.
I’ve had three injuries, and one took from 2016 to 2017 for me to recover. Three months I was out because I wasn’t perfect, and I lost a lot of games for this injury.
But I don’t see myself as someone who needs to be managed or has to worry about injuries.
It is pretty daunting – the Cell has been responsible for some amazing matches, but it can also lead to some pretty real injuries, so that plays into your mind.
Sixteen games, to me, is a long enough schedule for anybody. We’re already concerning ourselves with head injuries and bodily harm to all of the professional athletes. Add to extra games to it, (and) you are just increasing those risks.
In football, you never know. There could be one or two injuries that crop up and you may be needed so I always try to prepare myself as though I will be playing in the next game or that I need to be available – that’s my philosophy, even when I’m not 100 per cent.
I’ve had a couple of years where injuries have not let me develop in the way I wanted. When I was 21, after the European Championship, I had more injuries. Everything has been less continuous and it has cost me more progress. Continuity is what got me where I am.
I love playing sports. I’m overly eager and aggressive and not very skilled, so it leads to many small injuries.
Class-action lawsuits should allow those with serious injuries to have their own day in court. The Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act would do just that.

I was incredibly supple and did gymnastics as well. So half of my injuries are because I am over-supple and the joints could always go that little bit further. But I was happy to push, and I have no regrets. That is important to say.
I think we would all prefer to have a slightly shorter regular season with less back-to-back games. This would seem to help put out a better product, and it could also possibly help with injury prevention from over-use injuries.
If men possessed wisdom, which stands in the same relation to the form of man as the sight to the eye, they would not cause any injury to themselves or to others; for the knowledge of truth removes hatred and quarrels, and prevents mutual injuries.
