One of the reasons I loved working with Tom is people feel they know who he is… I think working with an actor who the audience already has a relationship with actually helps you in a film like this.
I was never the best-looking guy; I was never the Tom Cruise-looking guy.
When it comes to federal elections law, Tom DeLay and his special-interest friends live by one set of rules, and everyone else lives by a very different set.
It’s nice to finally get scripts offered to me that aren’t the ones Tom Hanks wipes his butt with.
A handful of works in history have had a direct impact on social policy: one or two works of Dickens, some of Zola, ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’ and, in modern drama, Larry Kramer’s ‘The Normal Heart.’
Also, I’m obviously a big Tom Brady fan. Everybody loves him. I just like guys like that who have worked hard to get where they’re at and have had a lot of success.
I think my friend Tom Hanks knows me. He understands me very well. He’s always had a sort of parental feeling toward me. He knows I’m a big mush ball, which is just part of my personality.
‘I don’t want to grow up’, Tom Waits said it. I live it. I put myself in a position to be a kid as long as I want to. I play loud music and scream for a living.
The progressive movement needs more crazy and amoral/immoral right-wing politicians and pundits like Tom DeLay and Newt Gingrich and Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity.
Tom Hanks, when you meet him, he’s a such a cheerful, open, giving, fun guy. You would imagine this star that’s been in our living room for 20-plus years would have this kind of personality, but he’s still a beautiful, giving human being.
I got to play with Tom Brady, so that was pretty cool.
At a gig in Liverpool I had this lady give me 21 cup cakes she had made herself. It’s not really rock’n’roll is it? Tom Jones gets pants thrown at him and I get given fairy cakes.
I’m not an Adonis, that’s for damn sure. I’ve never really thought of myself that way, and it doesn’t matter to me. My favorite actors aren’t Adonises. Dustin Hoffman is a flawed-looking man; he’s amazing to me. Tom Hanks is flawed-looking; people love him. Same with Gene Hackman.
Tom Arnold and I, we have a huge firefight scene on top of a German tank. I get to shoot 50 caliber rounds. We shoot a helicopter out of the sky. That’s the only fight I’m in.
I was working with Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg when I was nine years old.
In the beginning when I sat next to Tom Brokaw on the ‘Today’ show, the stories I was interested in were those having to do with women and children and learning and health. In those days, 25 to 30 years ago, that was called soft news, and not in a nice way.
I don’t know many women who can relate to Sharon Stone and the kind of movies she does. I don’t know a lot of guys who can relate to Tom Cruise’s movies because they’re on a kind of fantastic level. I like movies I can relate to.
Tom Sleigh’s poetry is hard-earned and well founded. I great admire the way it refuses to cut emotional corners and yet achieves a sense of lyric absolution.
There are only three men in the world who are licensed to wear shorts: Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise.
I grew up being absolutely in love with Tom Hanks. I remember, all the kids had Brad Pitt plastered all over their textbooks, and then I had Tom Hanks plastered over mine.
I love Tom Wilkinson and Tommy Lee Jones as well as Jessica Chastain. But the person I look up to most, not because I identify with her roles but because of who she is as a person, is Sissy Spacek.
Tom Brady is Tom Brady. He was a sixth-round draft pick. A lot of people passed up on him. He’s a Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl MVP. He’s been in a bunch of Super Bowls, and he could care less about all of that. He just cares about winning the next game.
You mean the fact that Tom Arnold would spend more time with the hair and makeup people than I would?
It is really disturbing to see that every Tom, Dick and Harry starts singing compositions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan as there is no one to claim it.
In 1981, when he ran for governor, I confiscated the needlepoint belts of New Jersey’s Tom Kean. It’s a patrician look that is right for the Vineyard, Nantucket, Darien, Greenwich, Charleston and Savannah.
I love all of his movies. I love all his movies. I love Tom.
I love Cillian Murphy’s character in ‘Peaky Blinders’ and Tom Hardy’s in ‘Taboo’ – theses are characters that, as audience members, we follow along with and root for. But our own morality is tested throughout that journey, because these characters ride a thin line between morality and amorality.
Unlike F. Scott Fitzgerald and Tom Wolfe, I don’t like proper dress while working. I like writing in pajama-like clothing, which eases and relaxes me and allows me to connect with the decidedly improper.
Animation is very singular. Like, even the ‘Toy Story’ movies. People will go, ‘Oh, gosh, you’re so lucky, getting to play opposite Tom Hanks!’ And it’s, like, ‘It may have appeared to be that, but we were never in the room together.’
I think Tom Paine is one of the greatest men that’s ever lived.
I wanted the opportunity to play for Tom Osborne. Here we are in the locker room at half-time, gathering around Coach Osborne. It grows quiet, and I’ll never forget what he said. He said, ‘Let’s get this over with.’
I would love to work with Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, B.B. King. I’d love to do something with Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane, and The Last Shadow Puppets. If I got a call from Juliette Lewis or PJ Harvey, or Chrissie Hynde, that’d be a thrill.
We got on American Bandstand, where kids would dance to a record and then rate it. We called ourselves Tom and Jerry. I was Jerry.
I think it’s quite tough for people like Tom Cruise where you can never really get away from being Tom Cruise in something. You’re so familiar to people and people know so much about your life.
I consider Tom Gores a friend.
My first manager was Gordon Mills, who I’d met right at the beginning. We shared a flat in London and traveled with rock bands doing one-nighters. Later, he became a songwriter and manager whose stable was Tom Jones, Gilbert O’Sullivan, and myself.
When you’re driving Tom Cruise around, and he’s literally a race car driver, and you’re supposed to be driving like you really know what you’re doing… It’s quite intimidating.
Tom Hanks is fantastic – he is one of my dad’s good friends, and he’s very warm and funny.
I totally relate to Tom Cruise. He’s not crazy, it’s just the litany of the mid-life crisis.
Tom Hanks knows the name of all the episodes.
Who isn’t a fan of Tom Cruise? He has been in so many amazing movies.
When are we going to stop labeling everyone? How many times have I been referred to as ‘out gay actor?’ Do we say, ‘out heterosexual actor’ when we refer to Tom Hanks?
I don’t think any Patriots fan would want anything other than for Tom Brady to stay.
I was born in 1971, and Tom Baker was sort of my obsession as a kid and that’s why we got him to do the voice over for ‘Little Britain’ because I was actually obsessed with Tom Baker.
Tom Waits is someone who has really struck me, ever since I was a kid. He’s really a big deal for me.
I didn’t even really know who Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg were, and my parents kept trying to tell me, ‘Noah, what is wrong with you!? This is the biggest actor and director in all of Hollywood!’ And then I was like, ‘Who cares? Whatever.’ I was nine; I didn’t know anything.
I actually watched Tom Brady a good amount in college. My coach in college was Kliff Kingsbury, and he actually was a backup for Brady at one point, and so he showed me things that he liked with Tom and his pocket movements and stuff he did within the pocket that I’ve tried to put in my game a little bit.
I’ve always been a massive fan of Killian Scott and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor anyways, so to get to work with them was absolutely a bonus.
Men have a lot less to write about, unless you’re somebody like Tom Waits or John Lennon. And the female voice is much more suited to melody. Men have this barky thing – we’re domesticated apes with a microphone.
If I want to do a contour, Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate is great. It also feels really nice on the skin and looks really natural.
This is truly a blessing. Breyon Prescott, Peter Edge and Tom Corson believe in me and have introduced me to a home that also believes and knows exactly what to do with the type of music I’m doing.
I have two brothers and a sister. I am the youngest in the family and was a bit of a tom boy.
When I was 18, I was halfway up the Eiffel Tower with my friend, Tom, when we decided to stick our heads through the railings. The gap between the railings was exactly the right size to be able to put your head through and nearly get stuck. Which is exactly what happened.
I have a little bit of a belly, a tiny bit of pooch. It’s the one thing I don’t want to lose. I just like having some softness. If I lose that, then Tom might leave me.
I was never academically driven in English, but, again, Tom Waits is a perfect example of an influence. He writes so immaculately and paints so perfectly a world and the characters within it. There are writers like that who are my influences: vivid and gifted storytellers.
To do a movie with someone like Tom Hanks that when you tell your dad, your dad knows who Tom Hanks is – it feels like you’re finally giving back to your parents. It’s like you’ve actually done something that they can recognize, and there’s something in me that makes them super proud.
