Usually, I create tunes that are fragmented. I think the biggest obstacle for people with their creativity is that they feel they have to sit down and create this finished, polished product.
Movies are not finished. They are abandoned. A movie is never finished.
I think after you write something and you’re finished with it, there is a sense of loss. That this is a world I can’t really re-enter the way that I could when I was working on it. The covers of the book close it to the writer.
There’s always something more to be accomplished with a character. Theater is a human experience. There’s nothing shellacked or finished off about it. I guess that’s why it always draws me back.
Writing nonfiction is more like sculpture, a matter of shaping the research into the finished thing. Novels are like paintings, specifically watercolors. Every stroke you put down you have to go with. Of course you can rewrite, but the original strokes are still there in the texture of the thing.
At a certain point my novels set. They set just as hard as that jam jar. And then I know they are finished.

A lot of people don’t get it, but I design from the inside out so that the finished product looks inevitable somehow. I think it’s important to create spaces that people like to be in, that are humanistic.
In five years’ time I’d like to be a mum. I want to settle down and have a family, definitely sooner rather than later. I’d like to have finished my second album too, maybe even my third. I’d like a sound that sticks around that other people are inspired by and that people know is me.
For me, some things, like, I just don’t want to know what they are before I eat them. Like, if you’re going to start feeding me, like, sexual organs of animals, or, like, a monkey’s brain or something – I’ll eat it. Just don’t tell me what it is until after I’ve finished it.
Every concert I’ve finished with the knowledge I’ve played a fistful of wrong notes.
I am not close to retirement. I still have a lot more that I can achieve. There are younger guys coming into F1, but I am not old and I’m not finished.

Those critics awards come and go every year, but the finished movie is your work.
The ‘Agent X’ set was never boring. During the first few days, I had to adjust to the loud noise on set, which included gun shots and explosions. After we finished filming the season, I realized I missed hearing all the noise and driving on empty freeways.
My natural accent is American. I chose to speak with a U.K. accent when I was about to enter the final year at drama school in London. I was going to try to find a way to stay in the U.K. after I finished college and could not imagine trying to live and get work there with an American accent.
At some point in the idea process, I simply wear myself down and force myself to choose. But here’s the thing: Once I do choose, suddenly all the other possibilities wither and die, and thus I never have a backlog of well-formed ideas waiting for me when my latest book gets finished.
When I had just finished my degree show, I wrote down the 10 companies that I most wanted to work with, and B&B Italia was on the top of the list.

As soon as I finished the first book, I wrote a second, which I hope to sell this year, and I have just about finished the third book in the series. Two more are already outlined. I’m in this for the long haul.
Even my closest friend said I was finished, but I think I may be a little different from the others.
I ran the Iditarod twice. I finished once. I came in 42nd or 43rd place out of 70 plus teams the first time, and I scratched 80 miles from Nome the second time. You can read about my experience in the race in my books ‘Woodsong’ and ‘Winterdance.’
When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.
When the game is finished, it’s completely finished. I’m with my kids. Sometimes people say to me, ‘Oh, did you see the game?’ and I say, ‘No, I didn’t see the game’. I watch if my friends are playing or my brothers. But not always.
I never finished high school. In fact, I hated going to school.
‘Brokeback Mountain’ just blew me away. I’ll always remember talking to Heath Ledger just after he finished that movie and he was going on about working with Ang and how incredible he was.
I know the sag of the unfinished poem. And I know the release of the poem that is finished.
It’s mainly about working hard and proving to people you’re serious about it, and stretching yourself and learning. The mistake a lot of actors make, particularly young ones, is allowing themselves to feel that they’re the finished articles, the bee’s knees, and it’s not true.
For me, once I’ve worked on something and it’s finished, it’s like an ex-boyfriend: you don’t go back to them.

I’m never more miserable than when I write, and never more happy than having finished and having it sitting in front of me.
It’s very easy to get excited about a job, but it’s a big commitment because you do it and then you have to live with it when it’s finished. It’s forever in your section in the video store. It’s you. It’s almost like deciding who you have a child with.
The most difficult part of playing Christ was that I had to keep up the image around the clock. As soon as the picture finished, I returned home to Sweden and tried to find my old self. It took six months to get back to normal.
In a way, I’m kind of a bystander looking at this phenomenon that is ABBA, which is still around, and that I thought would be finished in 1981 and forgotten. I’m amazed how this could happen, and I don’t know why it happened. I’m just grateful and humble. I just sit back and enjoy.
I should have considered it wrong to have finished the Frieze before the room for its accommodation and the funds for its completion were available.
I paint digitally now. A pity, in some ways, as the biggest price one pays is that you no longer have a finished piece of physical art to hang on a wall. I miss that terribly.

I hate it when people slag us off. We had done three tours during 1970 and we finished off feeling we had just about had enough. We had done so much in that short space of time, we were drained.
I did not have a normal life. I’d be training when my sister would be at birthday parties and sleepovers. I finished high school by correspondence, basically working two full-time jobs. The last years were very, very tough. But I was willing to do that. It’s all about sacrifice.
It’s funny to see the finished product of a movie, stuff that’s so beautiful, and to remember the particulars.
