I can’t tell you how important it is for people on the public stage to utilize that stage in a constructive, positive way. When you’re in the public eye, you have a decision to make – whether you are going to be an influence or not.
So when I write characters and situations and relationships, I try to sort of utilize what I know about the world, limited as it is, and what I hear from my friends and see with my relatives.
I guess at my core, I’m an artist. And so the opportunity to utilize my imagination, create things and share stories is what makes me happy and fulfills me.
Why say ‘utilize’ when you can say ‘use’?
Words are powerful. The tongue is powerful. And when you write it down, and record it, and press it up, it’s 100 million times more powerful. It’s important to utilize our tongue to help people.
