Being a Diva is not easy. We are on the road 300 days a year. We don’t get a lot of family or personal time. With ‘Total Divas’ on top of that, on our days off, we have the cameras following us, and that’s not for everyone.
But a true diva has dismissed that drama. A true diva’s heart is open, and she’s ready to play by her own rules – rules that are gentle and kind.
It’s never too late to reclaim your inner diva and reclaim your inner strength.
I think maybe because of the kind of music I sing, people want to believe you’re a diva. They can’t believe after eight years, and eight albums, you’re still relatively sane. I feel like they almost want me to throw something at somebody.
Back when I started, you could either be a folk singer, or you could be a disco diva, or you could be a secretary or maybe a disc jockey, but there was no room for anything alternative yet.
I’ve got four dogs, and I just don’t do dog doo. I’m a diva when it comes to that.
My biggest Diva moment was truly getting to go to Afghanistan with three other Divas and Superstars, as well as Vince McMahon, to give my thanks to all of the military and what they do. What job do you get that level of fulfillment?
I think I just need to be myself. I think that’s what this ‘Diva Search’ competition is all about.
I may have my diva moments, but I don’t want to get to where I’m considered untouchable.
An Oklahoma girl like me wouldn’t even know how to be a diva. I’m just a person who has a cool job. I love to be at home. I rarely go to clubs… and I always wear underwear! I just know I’d fall down, and that’s not for everyone to see.
I have the ability to sing with emotion and feeling, but if you say I sound like Billie Holiday, that’s cool. Let’s look at who Billie was: she was this person, this singer, this beautiful diva who could move the audience with the slightest gesture of her hand.
I’m pretty straightforward as a performer, but I do have a bit of a diva in me.
