Where liberals see as an ever-more-splendid diversity of colors, creeds, ethnicities, ideologies, beliefs and lifestyles, the Right sees the disintegration of a country, a nation, a people, and its replacement with a Tower of Babel. Visions in conflict that democracy cannot reconcile.
The American dream comes from opportunity. The opportunity comes from our founding principles, our core values that’s held together and protected by the Constitution. Those ideas are neither Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal, white, or black. Those are American ideologies.
There is nothing wrong with socialism or communism but they are irrelevant now. Some intellectual terrorists are provoking people in the name of these ideologies just like some religious terrorists go and demolish mosques and want to build temples in their place.
I believed that regardless of political ideologies – the reality was I didn’t even have any – which is no excuse, and it’s a horrible thing to admit, but I’ve admitted it – you can’t get into something not knowing who the players are, but also not understanding that policy and ethics go together.
We must remember that although we come from different backgrounds and ideologies, we’re all part of this great experiment in self-governance. We’re all united by common values of liberty, justice, and equality of opportunity, even if we don’t always agree on how to achieve them.
There is no room for political, personal or religious ideologies in science.
Violent ideologies can proliferate and spread; threats are no longer contained by borders and oceans; and adversaries are as likely to be found in cyberspace as on the battlefield.
