Growing up in the ’70s my heroes were Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and Roy Fredericks as a left-hand batsman.
The truth is that Roy Hodgson and I never clicked because I was far too outgoing for his liking and I had to rein that in when I was in front of him.
As for Roy, I love playing Roy. I’m working at it, but I wish I had less of a care of what people thought of me, so that I could be more like Roy.
Me calling out Roy Jones is disrespectful.
When I first moved to L.A., I discovered Roy London. I didn’t know anything about the arts, the profession; I had no technique, I knew nothing, I’m fresh from Missouri. I sat in on a few classes, and they just felt a little guru-ish and just didn’t feel right to me. Until I met Roy.
I like Roy Orbison’s video for ‘I Drove All Night’ because it’s so literal. It is just a man driving throughout the night. I like that silliness. To be in a video is a ridiculous thing. It’s almost impossible to do it without any humour.
When Mouni Roy became Naagin’ or even Adaa Khan, Surbhi Jyoti, everybody did it differently, so I want to do it my way as well.
The scariest thing about ‘Roy’ was that it was sync sound. So, I had to worry about my diction all the more along with my emotions, acting, and my dialogues. That was very challenging because it pushed me to work on my Hindi, and in a good way.
I’ve never seen a truly great fighter get knocked onto the ropes unconscious… knocked out cold before… and I saw Roy Jones get knocked out twice in a row.
Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans – these people are giants, legends; their names are household words. Of course, so’s Jell-O.
During the Sir Alex Ferguson years, you would see all those great players – Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Jaap Stam, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Cristiano Ronaldo, to name just a few – and you’d quickly realise why Old Trafford had an aura like nowhere else.
But Roy Rockwood, it was science fiction for the sake of science fiction.
I am singing for Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Roy’ and Emraan Hashmi in ‘X Men.’
Before the Roy Jones fight, I knew I was going to retire because I couldn’t train, my hands had gone, and the hunger had gone.
It’s hard to compare the faith of Gareth Southgate and Roy Hodgson and my lack of chances at Chelsea because it’s such a big club.
I grew up with the television product being old Western serials like Roy Rogers, and John Wayne and Gary Cooper, and many others were my favorites when I was a young person going to films.
Ever since I was a kid and watched magicians on stage, like David Copperfield or Siegfried and Roy, I instantly knew how they did everything. In my head, it just all worked.
I did the X-Men, and I plotted the stories, and Roy Thomas dialogued them. And that first set of comic books that I did are the plot that the first X-Men movie was taken from, where Magneto invents a machine that turns regular humans into mutants. That’s my idea.
As a kid, I loved any guitarists, whether it was Elvis Presley, Lonnie Donegan, Chuck Berry or even the cowboy guitarists like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. The image of the guitar appealed to me.
When I was making a comeback we were talking to Roy Jones but he wasn’t having any of it.
You can call Roy Nelson a wrestler, but he’s never fought a dynamic, explosive wrestler.
I know Alan Thompson from Villa, Paul Telfer from Coventry and Roy Keane from my Manchester United days.
I just really want to make – to be cliche about it, I want to make pretty music. Like Roy Orbison or Elvis, man. Those guys made beautiful, tender music.
My dreams are to unify the world light-heavyweight titles like Roy Jones did and then at cruiserweight before then possibly the heavyweight division.
Roy Hodgson is a fantastic coach. I first knew him when I was playing in Switzerland and he was national team coach. It was under him that Switzerland revolutionised their player formation system.
I’m the last senior executive who was hired by Roy Vagelos. It’s an honor, but it also imposes upon me an obligation not only to think about his legacy but also about this company’s legacy.
You are innocent until proven guilty. And if folks have come forward, whether it is judge Roy Moore or whether it is anyone else, and they have evidence to convict someone of a crime, then they should go through the legal process and do so.
Roy Acuff was a big hero for me, and I was so sad when he passed. It’s hard as you get older to lose your friends and family.
Dontel Benjamin on ‘Eastbound’ is a loud-mouth, braggadocios, crazy man, while Roy on ‘Rake’ is a very deliberate, thoughtful man, and he doesn’t scream a lot.
I started as a child artist, and not as a heroine, as most would think. I was performing on stage once when the late Bimal Roy saw me and asked me if I would work in films. I was too tiny. Without realising, I just said yes.
I like him as a guy, but I’m going to knock him out – Roy Jones is just a prop in a fairytale ending to a great career for me.
I thought I’d gone to heaven, because I grew up watching Roy and Gene Autry.
I was a teenage idol, but not the one that the girls would put up on their walls, like Fabian and Frankie Avalon. I was more cerebral, like a Roy Orbison or a Buddy Holly. I was one of the few who could write songs.
I have two moods. One is Roy, rollicking Roy, the wild ride of a mood. And Pam, sediment Pam, who stands on the shore and sobs… Sometimes the tide is in, sometimes it’s out.
Black women voted against Roy Moore not because they necessarily wanted the other guy; they voted against Roy Moore because they knew that would be better for the people of Alabama and, to be frank, better for the rest of the country.
Roy Williams has been a great coach every game since the beginning at Kansas.

George Roy Hill, Redford, and I have been looking for a script to do together for 13 years. We haven’t been able to find one that we liked enough for the three of us to be in it together.
One of my favorite expressions ever uttered by a player is Roy Campanella’s line about how, in order to be a major-league player, you have to have a lot of little boy in you.
Roy Keane and Paul Scholes were unbelievable players. You cannot compare yourself to them. It is impossible. Scholes especially, I like him a lot, and I have a lot of respect for what he did for United.
I was a pretty good imitator of Roy Acuff, but then I found out they already had a Roy Acuff, so I started singin’ like myself.
Every single player has to take responsibility for what they do. Look at the Manchester United team that won the Champions League in 2008, they didn’t have a ‘leader’ like Roy Keane any more.
Roy, the guy I play in ‘The Grifters,’ is a guy who had a very bleak life. His mother had him at 13, and then when she was 17 or 18 and he was 4 or 5, they were trapped in a small Texas town somewhere, and she was ready to do anything to get out.
I’m a little like Roy Keane. Mentally I’m very strong. I’m very hungry. I’m very dedicated. You can’t throw me off my stride. That’s how I break people. I just don’t care what they do. They can throw 180, 180 and 180 again and I’m like, ‘so what?’ They’ve got to keep it up to beat me.
Roy Jones is different. I like the style and the movement.
I love the song ‘Into the Night.’ It’s Roy Orbison meets David Lynch meets Iggy Pop on amphetamines. It has a punk edge that is not HIM, per se. It is super melodic and super ’60s, and that is very new to me and it is a sense of achievement to me.
When I was living in the projects, I had a mop stick for my horse. I wanted to be Gene Autry or Roy Rogers, so I would ride my mop through the projects.
As much as I loved Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Junior Gilliam, and Don Newcombe, I loved watching Willie Mays play more than all of them combined, even if he played for the ‘bad guys!’

In the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, noted actors like Iftekhar used to get mainly police officer roles, Bindu ji would do a negative role, and Nirupama Roy was the on-screen mother. All this had its own charm. There was a fixed casting.
Saw the best boxer, pound for pound: Roy Jones. Not a lot of hype, though.
