In Wales, it’s eight different weathers in a day.
Weekends are about replenishment and rejuvenation. Time in Wales would definitely be part of my ideal weekend, at my own hotel, set in 72 acres of absolute gorgeousness. I can already feel the air working its magic, with the sea breeze drifting over us.
I was watching the Five Nations as a kid, I’m very fortunate to have been able to pull the red jersey on a few times, and now I’m able to assist the team, assist the young players coming through, and help the guys who do have the ambition to play more for Wales.

My mother was Welsh and I loved going to Wales every summer, where Uncle Les had a farm. My mother had seven brothers and a sister and they were all very close. There would always be food on the table and uncles coming in and out. My father’s family were English and lived in London, and we didn’t really see them.
I therefore declare, that if you wish any remission of the taxation which falls upon the homes of the people of England and Wales, you can only find it by reducing the great military establishments, and diminishing the money paid to fighting men in time of peace.
When the Wales squad met up for the 2005 autumn internationals, I was already concerned that we were slipping into bad habits. And, yes, the role of head coach Mike Ruddock was, in my opinion, becoming a problem that would eventually need to be addressed if nothing changed.
The Bristol Channel was always my guide, and I was always able to draw an imaginary line from my bed to our house over in Wales. It was a great comfort.

I was born in Swansea in the Principality of Wales in September 1934 and named Clive William John Granger. The ‘William John’ names were traditional Granger boy’s names, and my mother liked the name Clive because some popular musician at the time had it.
Everyone in London, Wales, and France made the ‘Merlin’ experience a very, very special one.
It’s everyone’s dream to represent Wales and when you get that chance, which I did at a young age, you’ve got to relish it.
My favorite movie is ‘The Outlaw Josey Wales’ with Clint Eastwood, a guy who gets his family killed by the bad guys then goes on a journey of revenge, eventually discovering himself – very existential.
I have – I have more than an interesting task in piloting Wales into our new democracy, without wanting to exercise draconian powers on behalf of anybody else – I can assure of that.
The first games were against Belgium and Switzerland, and that changed me as well because I used to play striker at Hull, and when I went away with Wales, I played as a winger.

Growing up in Wales was a pretty Draconian experience with religion.
It was a proof of Welsh good nature: so long as I had a friend that knew and could introduce me, the whole Welsh people would do anything to entertain, and would even neglect their business to do so. But as a stranger in Wales, it is difficult to break through their suspicion and mistrust.
I’m a regular guy, got the same friends. I live in the same area of south Wales. That’s who I am. I’m just a normal guy. I just fight.
