I know it was all a bit of a sham. But I know that Mickey Dolenz sang. And Davy Jones sang. And Mike Nesmith sang. And Peter Tork did something.
I tended to lean towards the guys who both sang and played, such as Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner… And at the other end of the spectrum, I had Eric Clapton in a rock and blues sense, jazz guys such as Tal Farlow and Les Paul… Then Chet Atkins-type stuff.
Chris Kirkpatrick and I were in college in choir together; we sang at our community college. I’m partially the reason why Chris even got into being in a boy band with *NSYNC.
Bob Marley was one of my favourite artists. He sang politically conscious lyrics, yet he sang love songs, too.
