I miss driving to Goodison Park. I miss just the positive energy of the fans walking into the stadium and how much they care about that club and the team. And I miss the players a lot.
You were not wanted. You were, at best, tolerated. You had to be constantly on your guard, like an animal in a jungle full of beasts of prey. You experienced it all within the short distance of five miles from the gates of St. Peter’s to Park Station in the city.
I wanted to do a wildlife series. I kept remembering those days in Algonquin Park, drifting along in the bottom of a canoe, and I wanted to transfer that feeling to the viewers.
Being lampooned on ‘South Park’ is hardly something to complain about. They brought the issue of the dolphin and whale slaughter by the Japanese to a very large audience. I could not really care less how I was portrayed.
Doing 40-minute track sessions is easy money compared to what we were doing on the Tour. What you used to think was hard now feels like a walk in the park.
I was skating with friends in my neighborhood, and then eventually I was invited to go to the skate park with one of them. When I saw people flying all around – literally flying in and out of bowls – that is when I knew I wanted to do it. I wanted to figure out how I could get there and how I could fly.
My sister and I were very adventurous. We’d play in the park across the road in our imaginary tree house for hours on end and come home on our bikes when it was dark.
Even when I was down in the fourth division with Bury at 19, fighting off relegation, training in a local park with dogs running around everywhere, literally stepping over broken bottles to take a goal kick – I was learning.
My parents lived by Rancho Park. And my mom, later in life, got into playing golf. She and her male cronies would get up at five in the morning and sneak onto the back nine. I kind of just started getting into it. For a long time, I was really puzzled by why people liked it.
If you’re let go from Celtic, the club you support, and go to Queen’s Park, people think it’s a disaster. I don’t think I cried, but I was very upset. As a young boy, your dream has been taken away. But I had good people around me, and it was probably the best thing that happened.
Park City is developing itself, almost to death.
I was getting make up done in the car when the door opened and Park Bo Gum came in. After we said ‘Hello,’ an hour of silence followed.
Park Bo Gum has a very reserved personality. Becoming close with him was a struggle. Just trying to talk in informal speech took two hours.
Under the snowcapped mountains of Fiordland National Park, freshwater streams empty into the saltwater fiords, creating a unique ecosystem. This is a heavily wooded park, so the water in the streams is stained with tannin, a substance found in plants that makes clean water seem dirty, though it isn’t.
I come from West London. I support a football team there called Queens Park Rangers, whom I’d like to give a shout-out to. I’m a die-hard Rangers fan. I think that I would always hopefully have a strong connection to and live in London, because it’s a brilliant city.
I guess that compared to other comic strips, I’m edgy. But put me along something like ‘South Park,’ and I’m ‘Captain Kangaroo.’
Surprisingly, it was not an American but a British company that opened an amusement park in 2007 called Dickens World, located in the English county of Kent, complete with an Ebenezer Scrooge Haunted House, a Great Expectations Boat Ride and the as-advertised ‘costumed Dickensian characters.’
Objects in a park suggest static repose rather than any ongoing dialectic. Parks are finished landscapes for finished art .
My films usually start with an idea that I get while walking the streets. For example, I got the idea for ‘Guard Dog’ when I was walking in the park and I saw a dog barking at a bird.
No, writing musicals is the hardest thing in the world. And it was really funny, because I remember when the South Park movie came out, there were some critics that said, ‘Well it’s obvious that in order to get it to be 90 minutes they filled some time with music.’
The very first game I worked on was for DreamWorks Interactive’s ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park.’
When I know I’m not doing any auditions, I go to the skate park on my scooter or my bike.
The Secret Intelligence Service I knew occupied dusky suites of little rooms opposite St James’s Park Tube station in London.
If I could do anything, I think a theme park. Because the world of Lisa Frank really is a world. And I think, before I die, we should have that world someplace, not just on paper. I think that would be pretty awesome.
I’ve started confiding in people, other artists mostly, that I hate making ‘South Park,’ and I always have. It’s super stressful. I’m always miserable.
Just as every animal is part of a kingdom, phylum, class, and order, every Dorchester resident has a parish, school, park, and neighborhood that they identify with.
The Peckman River Basin has frequently flooded, and for more than a generation, the towns of Little Falls and Woodland Park have faced these challenges largely on their own.
There’s a reason Tony Stark makes fun of ‘Thor,’ and mentions ‘Shakespeare’ in the park in ‘The Avengers.’ It’s great to play high drama and comedy alongside a modern story.
When you think about Boston, Harvard and M.I.T. are the brains of the city, and its soul might be Faneuil Hall or the State House or the Old Church. But I think the pulsing, pounding heart of Boston is Fenway Park.
The only autograph I ever got, which I do not have anymore, was Matthew Fox when he was on ‘Party Of Five.’ I was in high school, and he came to our local amusement park, and I stood in line and got an autograph.
I regret the negative press that has come with my climb of the Delicate Arch, but I think that there is a bigger picture. And I would hope that it could open the eyes of the public and the community to the bigger problem of what’s going on, which is the mismanagement of our wild lands and the national park.
It was like my part-time job as a kid to be an adventurer… in my head. I used to sword-fight in the garden and in the park – with my Nan, of all people, with my Nan who can barely walk! I used to make her run around, and I’d go around destroying these trees and cones and stuff.
I have always been interested in abandoned cars. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a car, driving, and there’s a car sitting in a pasture, totally abandoned. Or on the edge of a creek or something. I always wonder: why did somebody park it in the pasture and leave?
I’d give a year of my life if I could hit a homerun on opening day of this great new park.
There is literally nothing I can describe that’s better than scoring at Celtic Park.
I actually walk through Washington Square Park a lot.
They are the three venues I wanted to box in – I wasn’t really interested in Las Vegas and all of them places. The three I always said was Croke Park, United, and Madison Square Garden.
You think back and you ask yourself why you became so interested in wolves. I think it was because when I was very small, growing up in a little hamlet near Shap, we would go to Lowther Wildlife Park for birthday parties. Now closed, it was only three miles from my parents’ house.
I run in London, in San Francisco – any city that’s got a waterfront or park.
As a child, I seriously believed my family was going down the road to bankruptcy. I was denied virtually every popular trend, from heavily logoed Tommy Hilfiger windbreakers to amusement park season’s passes.
When I am walking in Central Park, I recognize the Italians. Because an Italian, even when he jogs, he’s dressed perfect.
I certainly did work at an amusement park. In 1985. Wow – I’m in denial about the year. I was in college, and I had no skills.
One of my top 10 favorite movies of all time was ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.’ ‘Team America’ is a work of genius to me.
It all started in a local park in El Paso called Madeleine Park. At a ditch, a very small ditch, that everybody used to go skateboarding in. It was me and Jim Ward and an acoustic guitar. He and I constructed the very first phases of At The Drive In.
I would probably build somewhere between a half-mile and three-quarter-mile track. It would be sort of like Indianapolis Raceway Park. When I was a kid, that was my favorite track.
I was joking with my mom that all Jewish mothers now will want their kids to be filmmakers instead of doctors. Because you can make one film, and suddenly you’re directing a ‘Jurassic Park’ movie.
I go to Union Square Park, mostly to take care of squirrels.
I do think culture is an argument, and that was part of the way I was brought up. People at a social occasion in Ireland will start shouting and arguing. When the Yeats family lived in Bedford Park, they had to go round to the neighbours to say, ‘You might think we are fighting, but this is the way we talk to each other.’
When you’re on TV, you’re looking at a half-page of material, trying to memorize it really quickly. By the time it’s on TV, I’ve already forgotten what I said, but I can still recite my whole role from Shakespeare in the Park. It works a different set of muscles.
Parking is a nightmare for me… I still have sensors on my car that help me park.
