Anyone can become a game show host. It simply requires a giant, narcissistic ego and an inability to do anything else. The closest thing to school I did was looking in the mirror one hundred times a day and repeating, ‘People should listen to you talk.’
No talk show or game show for me, thanks.
In general, when I watch cable news during the day, it’s frustrating because it reminds me of a game show. If I want to watch ‘The Price is Right,’ I’ll watch ‘The Price is Right.’
‘Smart Funny and Black’ is basically a live black pop culture game show that I created. We have a live band. We have two contestants that we call ‘blacksperts.’ They come on stage and compete in games that I’ve created that test their knowledge of black culture, black history, and the black experience.
I used to be obsessed with game shows. When the Game Show Network became popular in the late ’90s, I was all about reruns of ‘The Price Is Right.’ I knew all the prices from the ’70s.
