I feel that public service is so important and giving back, being a role model and helping people in need is something that I would love to do.
You hear about players like Jamal Crawford who’s constantly giving back. Isaiah Thomas, even though he’s from Tacoma, he went to U-Dub, and he’s constantly giving back to the community.
I’m a chef, I’m a cook, I was created by this industry, and I like to think I’m giving back. But I’m not giving back because I can make a scallop souffle, I’m giving back because I can make compost.
I think the more you can kind of decrease yourself and kind of increase other people’s stories and give them the light, I think that’s what it’s all about. Whether it’s community service or giving back to the community in different ways or helping people, it’s not about yourself.
