Thanks to a hacker known as Guccifer who wormed into the computer of the 43rd president’s sister, the world has learned that George W. Bush is an amateur – I would say serious amateur – painter.
A lot of the fake news conversation came right after the 2016 election, but it’s something that had been discussed before Donald Trump ever ran for president.
I’ve been performing since I was a child; my mother would have to pull me aside and tell me that I wasn’t onstage. I was a cheerleader, president of choir, and in the school play.
I didn’t vote, exactly. This is the first time I’ve been politically inclined and active, and I think Donald Trump is a tremendous president. And I wanted to be educated. I wanted to do a deep dive before I started going out there and saying stuff as opposed to other people who mindlessly vote.
Nothing in the 14th Amendment or in any other constitutional provision suggests that the president may usurp legislative power to prevent a violation of the Constitution.
President Obama seems to understand the Constitution as a ‘set of suggestions.’
We have to do more than just elect a new President if we truly want to change this country.
I will take a draft to the Yankees or to the Mets. A draft for president is not conceivable.
I still think in this country, and this might surprise you, the one thing that George Bush said as president that I do agree with, I love that phrase, ‘the soft bigotry of low expectations.’
I think blaming the president for high gas prices is like blaming Rudy Giuliani for 9/11.
You can’t be elected president without passing though Iowa and bowing down before corn-based ethanol, before agricultural subsidies. I mean, even McCain was a critic of ethanol, but when he got to Iowa, he was singing a different tune.
There is no basis to say I’m being coy about running for president. If I chose to explore the presidency, I wouldn’t do it in a backward way. I’ll say, ‘I’m exploring the presidency.’
I went from being a senator, a young senator, to being considered for vice president, running for president, being a vice presidential candidate, and becoming a national public figure. All of which fed a self-focus, an egotism, a narcissism that leads you to believe that you can do whatever you want.
I said in a speech out in Peoria that with Jerry in as vice president, the pressures on Nixon to resign would be unbearable. I know that Republicans see 50 House seats flying out the window in 1974.
How do we turn our nation around? President Obama thinks the answer is more and more government. Government is not the answer. You are not doing anyone a favor by creating dependency, destroying individual responsibility.
I’m going to be a vice president very much like George Bush was. He proved to be a very effective vice president, perhaps the most effective we’ve had in a couple of hundred years.
The emoluments clause is in the Constitution for a reason: We, as Americans, need to know that the president acts in our best interests, not his own self-interest.
Primarily affecting low-information voters and members of the mainstream media, Obama Worship Syndrome attributes impossible capabilities to Obama’s political opponents, finds excuses for every Obama failure in everyone around him and praises the president as the finest politician – nay, human being – of our time.
Votes for president have long been a kind of social signifier. People will proudly boast that they voted for JFK; while it’s harder to find those eager to claim having supported Richard Nixon.
A president from a partner nation should not make comments on Italian politics.
In 1993, Israel and North Korea were moving towards an agreement in which North Korea would stop sending any missiles or military technology to the Middle East and Israel would recognize that country. President Clinton intervened and blocked it.
Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be Vice President of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend. She is qualified to be President of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America.
My homeland of Belarus is an unlikely place for an Internet revolution. The country, controlled by authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko since 1994, was once described by Condoleezza Rice as ‘the last outpost of tyranny in Europe.’
In a prime-time address, President Bush said he backed limited federal funding for stem cell research. That’s right, the President said, this is a quote, the research could help cure brain diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and whatever it is I have.
I’d pick a young white guy over an old white guy for president anytime because the younger guy is more likely to have been influenced by the great social changes of the ’60s and ’70s.
Thousands of people may have been killed by hurricane Katrina and many more could die in its aftermath because of the President’s refusal to heed the calls of governors for help in repairing the infrastructure in their states.
It’s egregious that CPAC and Matt Schlapp have decided to bow to the leftist outrage mob and ban one of President Trump’s most prominent supporters. I am extremely offended and appalled that I’ve been banned by my own people.
I’m not sure if President Obama is an ideologue or a pragmatist. I am hoping and praying he’s a pragmatist.
I’m very concerned about President Trump and his policy by tweet.
The president of the United States let the consulate in Libya become a death trap.
Lincoln said you cannot be President without spending some item on your knees. I have repeated that and a bunch of Atheists got all over me. Wait a minute. Does that mean that you cannot be President if you are an Atheist? I say yea that does mean that.
I would agree that President Carter didn’t live up to the expectation we all had when he came in 1976. My husband and I were young idealists who worked on his campaign.
The night before I began my career as a presidential campaign reporter, in September 2007, I finished Theodore White’s ‘The Making of the President,’ the classic account of the 1960 race, which opened up a new era of campaign reporting.
The thought of being President frightens me and I do not think I want the job.
Somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the president’s spouse. I wish him well!
Mr. President how long must women wait to get their liberty? Let us have the rights we deserve.
I don’t want to tell President Obama how to make a speech. He’s a much better speech maker than I am. But I think always to tell the truth in a sometimes blatant way, even though it might be temporarily unpopular, is the best approach.
There needs to be a planned series of speeches, interviews, etc., over the next two or three months by administration officials and other public figures talking about President Ford, what he is trying to do and what he has accomplished.
There are blessed intervals when I forget by one means or another that I am President of the United States.
Our next black president, I think, can be more like Muhammad Ali.
Every President wants to do right.
Some of the reasons John McCain lost in 2008 were his lackluster campaign, his refusal to showcase Obama’s extreme liberalism and, thus, his failure to demonstrate why he would make a better president than Obama.
I was a good student, I was good at soccer, I was vice president of the student council, I was a pretty girl.
Having won re-election convincingly and against the economic odds, President Obama quickly made good on his promise of maintaining taxes as they are for the middle class while raising them on the wealthiest Americans.
Now, President Obama has to make a decision. He can either propose a nominee who can win over the majority in the Senate or defer his choice to the voters, who in November will elect a new President and a new Senate, which will be responsible for confirming a nominee who will provide balance to the Supreme Court.
The President of the United States should strive to be always mindful of the fact that he serves his party best who serves his country best.
I am an austere president.
If I don’t run for president, we’ll all be OK.
The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States.
The president in Finland has to understand that there are many different thoughts and opinions and that they must be taken into account so that he could be the president of the whole nation.
I want a president who will teach our children that everyone in this country matters, a president who truly believes in the vision that our Founders put forth all those years ago that we are all created equal, each a beloved part of the great American story.
How can we help President Obama?
I chose to personally support Donald Trump for president early on and referred to him as America’s blue-collar billionaire at the Republican National Convention because of his love for ordinary Americans and his kindness, generosity, and bold leadership qualities.
It’s a great country, where anybody can grow up to be president… except me.
