If 98 out of 100 doctors tell me I’ve got a problem, I should take their advice. And if those two other doctors get paid by Big Snack Food, like certain climate deniers get paid by Big Coal, I shouldn’t take their advice.
I eat a lot. I eat three times a day and I snack.
I never snack apart from fruit such as Cox’s apples.
I always have applesauce in my fridge, and when traveling I take protein bars just in case I get hungry. They’re my go-to snack.
I’ve found that I snack less and concentrate better when I chew on a plastic stirrer – the kind that you get to stir your to-go coffee. I picked up this habit from my husband, who loves to chew on things. His favorite chew-toy is a plastic pen top, and gnawed pen tops and little bits of plastic litter our apartment.
Loading a hollowed-out loaf of bread with steak, mushrooms, shallots, and a fat dose of horseradish yields a kind of portable beef Wellington – the pinnacle of British cuisine reinvented as a trail snack.
I don’t really believe in diets. I love food… If I deprive myself, I’m going to want it more. I snack on yogurt, raw cashews and cherry tomatoes.
I hate the monsoons! While everyone else is romanticising the sipping of garam chai and garam pakoras – it’s a common tea-time snack for most Indians in any kind of weather, so why the fuss? I am in revolt.
At home, people are more likely to be distracted than in a theatrical environment. They’re checking their phones, pausing to get a snack, or sometimes jumping from show to show.
I sometimes forget to have breakfast in the morning, but when I actually buy a box of cereal, I will probably eat it not only for breakfast but also as a snack later on.
Generally I try to be as healthy as possible, but it’s hard to be on set because anything and everything is available to you. I’m healthy half the time, and half the time I’m like, ‘Sure let me go back and see whatever snack they have laid out.’
My favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities is McDonalds. I order two cheeseburgers, two snack wraps with no sauce, two fish fillets with cheese and light tartar sauce, two large fries, two apple pies, and one large milkshake.
On most sets, the crew always seem to have some delicious tempting treats nearby – I find that if I’ve got a packet of almonds around, a handful is a great snack – I’m now offering them to everyone!
What we’ve learned is that if you can make the right decision in the supermarket aisle, it’s a heck of a lot easier to make a good decision when you reach in your cupboard when you’re craving a snack at eight o’clock at night.
I am essentially a middle-aged woman who likes making up weird snack combinations and galloping.

Generally, I snack on lots of fresh fruit and raw nuts, such as almonds.
Walnuts are so rich. I also love that you can chew them for five minutes. Then I eat a couple of golden raisins as a palate cleanser because they are really tart, and then more walnuts. It’s a great snack for me.
