There was a period of time in America where the advertising world actually went to the housewives of America and had them write jingles that would appeal to them. It was actually brilliant marketing.
I feel like I’m a stay-at-home mom, which I was for the five years before this. She’s absolutely been my focus. That’s the choice I made. Desperate Housewives is perfect for me. I get to go back to work and still be able to take my daughter to school and pick her up.
We’re seeking out such grossness in human behavior and want such mindless entertainment. ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and some of these other shows are more racist. Or ’16 and Pregnant.’ Getting rewarded for being pregnant when you’re a teenager? Are you serious?
I’ve watched my fair share of ‘Housewives.’ And I just felt a little dirty afterwards.
On all the ‘Housewives’ shows, there’s always some wannabe wife who’s always sticking her head in.
Bugs are a great pest in Colorado. They come out of the earth, infest the wooden walls, and cannot be got rid of by any amount of cleanliness. Many careful housewives take their beds to pieces every week and put carbolic acid on them.
‘Housewives’ has shone a light on women of middle age, that you’re not out of the game, you’re not old, you’re not put out to pasture… You’re lively, you’re doing things, you’re aggressive, you’re making money, you’re recreating yourself.
Sure, when you think ‘World of Warcraft,’ you might picture the nerdier set – those who may have sacrificed hygiene and sleep to reach one more experience level. But the truth is that ‘WoW’ is populated with players of all sorts of backgrounds, from rural housewives to NFL punters.
When I fight, people are going to watch me fight. They’re not gonna turn the channel to ‘Real Housewives of OC’ like they will other fighters.
Those women with collagen lips just look like frogs – ‘muffin mouths,’ I call them. There’s not a line on their brows, and all the emotion gone from their faces, like all those actresses in ‘Desperate Housewives.’
Housewives’ was a very… I had so much anxiety on that show. It was so much drama all the time.
People are slowly realizing that they’re looking at drag all the time. ‘Mrs. Doubtfire.’ ‘Real Housewives.’ Peewee Herman. Don’t let calling it drag make you uncomfortable.
I’d never imagined I’d become the ambassador of housewives.
I just – I like the saccharin and the gooeyness of ‘Bachelor,’ and how just gross and like falsely romantic it is. Whereas, like, the ‘Real Housewives’ is just raw, and it’s just – it’s the fights that get me. It’s just very uncomfortable for me.
Hoover’s first emphasis was on the individual, the spark for all innovation and progress. This is a man who, while commerce secretary, standardized our modern economy, from brick sizes to bed sizes, so that housewives would not be frustrated when the sheets that arrived didn’t fit.
I love ‘Real Housewives.’ I love ‘Love & Hip Hop.’ I love HGTV. I love a good Guy Fieri marathon on Food Network. I like comfort TV.
Because I’m shooting ‘The New Normal’ and ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ at the same time, so my schedule is double. I leave one show and go and shoot the other. The cameras are with me for, like, every day of my life. So I’m extremely tired.
Nobody talks about housewives anymore! This is what we were supposed to do in the ’50s. Not everybody, but in my milieu. My crowd. You went to college, and you got a degree in case, God forbid, you ever had to work. And you better find somebody to marry while you’re there, because otherwise, what’s going to become of you?
Over the years, I’ve been offered quite a few reality shows, and a lot of times they’re about bickering and drama. I watch some of the Housewives, and that can create some real tension in your family!
Perhaps all artists were, in a sense, housewives: tenders of the earth household.
I really love ‘Real Housewives.’ It’s like the, you know, comedy stuff that’s, like, intentionally funny. Like, I love ‘Nathan for You,’ that Comedy Central show. It’s just brilliant. My friend Bill Eichner has a show called ‘Billy on the Street’ that I write for, and even if I didn’t write for it, I’d still love it.
I’d like to think, that were he alive today, Warhol would be painting the Housewives.
Housewives of the 1950s were supposed to create show-stopping meals every night for their hard-working husbands.
It’s people politics, people dynamics that make a show really good, whether it’s ‘Desperate Housewives’ or ‘Lost’ or ‘The Sopranos.’ It’s the people we’ve grown to love or otherwise.
I’m a fan of ‘Real Housewives,’ so I personally like drama.
Working on ‘Housewives’ was very similar to ‘Sex and the City.’ Different cities, of course, but a high level of talent in the writing and acting on both!
