The appealing thing to me about Wonder Woman is the question of, who is this woman in tights and leotard walking around? What’s her story and how does it resonate with women today?
Wonder Woman is a lot of fun to draw.

Wonder Woman is most definitely a feminist, or a humanist, in no uncertain terms. Her prime goal in life is to teach peaceful coexistence and equality.
I’m making a movie about Wonder Woman, who I love, who to me is one of the great superheroes, so I just treated her like a universal character, and that’s what I think is the next step when I think you can do that more and more and when studios have the confidence to do that more and more.
‘Wonder Woman’ was on TV when I was growing up, and I knew Lynda Carter was part Latina. It gave me a great sense of pride.

There was a very difficult time when a female hero was a man in a woman’s body. ‘Hunger Games’ really changed that: a woman leading a non-woman’s film in the action genre. I think ‘Wonder Woman’ does that on a very big scale.

When I saw Wonder Woman being constantly put in positions where she’d get tied up with her own rope, or held hostage, even as a kid, my reaction was ‘C’mon, she’s too smart for that.’
The Wonder Woman that you see in ‘Batman v Superman’ is a woman who has been around, and she’s very experienced. She understands a lot about man. Whereas, in the standalone movie, we are telling the grown-up story, Diana becoming Wonder Woman, and this was a story that was never told before.

It’s a wonderful thing to see ‘Wonder Woman’ directed by a woman. That did have an affect on the character, the , and the nuances of that film. That’s the same thing my wife, Mara Brock Akil, and I are doing taking on ‘Black Lightning.’
What’s so lovely about Wonder Woman is yes, she has the strength and power of a goddess, but she has the heart and mind of a human. So I play her as I think a woman like me would act in the situations she’s going through. You treat her as a normal woman who happens to be fantastic and almighty.
I can’t wait to take my son to see ‘Wonder Woman’ – I can’t wait to show him all the female characters can be well-rounded people.
‘The Outpost’ is an exciting fantasy with a strong female lead that will capture the imagination of fans of both ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Wonder Woman.’
Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superheroes.
One of my earliest jobs drawing was ‘Wonder Woman: Our Worlds At War,’ with Phil Jimenez, which was a really cool jaunt through her history. I got to draw this two-page spread that was set in the Golden Age.
Let’s be realistic – 90% of superheroes are male. Personally, I prefer Superman, Batman and Spider-Man to Wonder Woman. Not that I don’t like female superheroes, but watching male superheroes gives me a high.
Who should make a great movie about Wonder Woman? It should be somebody who loves Wonder Woman. And I know that I’m that. So let’s go and try.
