In ’87 – four years after ‘Sports’ was released – my family and I began vacationing in Montana. I soon bought my first piece of land in Ravalli County, in the western part of the state.
I was born in ’72, and my dad was county judge of El Paso from ’82 to ’86. He was just as independent as he could be, and had an amazing joy in life and in being with people, which, from my perspective as a kid, was that he was always going to do the right thing, and damn the consequences – political or otherwise.
My favourite place in Britain is… my home county of Shropshire. I think it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world.
We should ensure that a kid from Nash County can get the same great education as a kid from Wake County.
Early in the 1990s, I flew alone in a dandelion-yellow, single-engine, 180-horsepower Piper Cherokee from Westchester County Airport in New York westward to the Rocky Mountains, landing and refuelling a good many times in middle-sized cities and towns along the way.
People in Indiana like to see their politicians at the county fair or the Rotary Club.
Everyone town of 100,000 in the United States should have a Classical Theater supported by the town, or the state of the county, or the Federal Government, as they have in every civilized country.
Especially in local elections, because hardly anybody pays attention to those – but it’s really important who’s mayor and who’s on the city council, county commissioners, sheriffs, district attorney, and of course the school board.
When I was young, one Sunday every month or so, my mom would load my brothers and me into our station wagon and drive 80 miles north to Orange County, where we’d meet our extended family at a Persian restaurant for lunch.
I will provide friendly and courteous service and will work closely with all departments in the county. I will abide by the Texas Information Act in providing information to the public.
And then you might decide that the country can just spend maybe years or decades to regain that credit, or maybe give that county the support, the financial support that the market is not willing not do.
Every step on my way to becoming an artist seemed preordained. The right people were always in the right places at the right times to boost me to the next level. I was fortunate to be selected for a summer drawing class offered to teens at the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles County.
Before I left to go to college, I was living in Orange County, Anaheim Hills. And prior to that, I was in Long Beach.
I encourage the residents of Houston County to let their elected representatives know that closing the Dothan Trooper Post is unacceptable.
