That’s the thing: pop music has sometimes had a bad reputation for being about a lot of other stuff than the music. And I am just a lover of pop music. I love pop. I love big choruses. Dramatic choruses – they’re the best thing in the world. And I do this because I love making music and performing the songs.
I’m a real nature lover, so whenever possible, I like to get to the beach or get to a forest or get somewhere there’s fresh air. Apart from that, I’m a film addict and a DVD freak.
What’s life without risks? When I made ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,’ everybody said in India you can never have a husband say that I am uniting my wife with her lover. The male audience would reject it, and it is a male audience and hero-oriented industry.
So the lover must struggle for words.
I think I had a more European outlook about the body and sex. The body is in no way dirty, and sex is something beautiful to give to and share with a lover. It has nothing to do with promiscuity, because I only believe in being in love with one man at a time.
An irresistible passion that would induce me to believe in innate ideas and the truth of prophecy has decided my career. I have always loved liberty with the enthusiasm which actuates the religious man with the passion of a lover and with the conviction of a geometrician.

I am a great food lover.
I am an Asian food lover.
We should all aspire in life to do a multitude of things well – to be a great father, to be a good husband, to be a good lover, you know, to try to do things the best you can is very important to me.
I’ve always admired gardens. My father was a great nature lover and would always take me for walks. We lived not too far away from huge rhododendron estates and azalea estates, and when they’re in bloom in England, they’re just riotous.
I definitely prefer being a lover than a fighter.
