No writer should minimize the factor that affects everyone, but is beyond control: luck.

Given that you’ll never be able to prevent copying, the question is, what can you do to minimize it? What can you do to make consumers happy enough with legitimate use of the system that they’ll be willing to pay for it?
I don’t mean to minimize Russia. They are a serious national security threat, but day in, day out, the threats that we face from China are significantly greater. Anyone who says otherwise is just politicizing intelligence for their own narrative.
You’re trying to improve every year. And you’re trying to make improvements on what you learn about yourself, when you’re successful or struggle. You try to minimize those stretches. And you realize what you do when you’re successful, and you try and lengthen those.
