I’ve never seen anything like the way some young people behave. They go out on a date, and they’re sitting opposite each other at a table, and they’re not looking at each other, and they text each other as though they’re deaf-mutes. It’s insane.
An enormous number of mothers in the U.S. are working double time, graveyard shifts, and more than one job just to put food on the table for their kids.
When I was a child, we always had wine on the table, no matter how simple the meal. The wine had no special identity; it was just ‘the wine,’ from the cellar cask. The rules were general: white with the first course, red with the main course.
If you hit the table after missing a ball, you get fined. If you swear, you get fined. You can’t even tweet what you’re thinking without getting fined. Players can’t show their personality and therefore fans can’t relate to them.
As a child growing up, it’s going to be what you’re going to remember most. What you liked or not liked then is going to define who you are at the table!
I just cannot have an offer on the table and just let it go.
I hope we can get back to what I call the kitchen table. Everyday issues that people are really worried about and focused on.
The thought of eating rabbit and squirrels doesn’t appeal to me. And that was on our table quite often as a kid. In your uppity restaurants, they serve a lot of rabbit. But I just can’t help but think of Peter. And deer, I can’t go there, because of Bambi.
When you go to auditions, pretend you already have the job and you’re just presenting – almost like you’re at the table read. Don’t go in with an air of, ‘Please like me,’ or, ‘Please hire me.’ You’re like, ‘Here’s my take on it. Take it or leave it. I’ve got a lot of other things to do today.’
I am living my dream because I get to work with my kids and watch them find their happiness. It’s so rewarding – we brainstorm around a conference table and have a really great time doing it.
Opinions alter, manners change, creeds rise and fall, but the moral laws are written on the table of eternity.
I see the same coffee table everywhere. It’s mass marketing.
India and China have not shied away from addressing boundary questions, have wisdom to find a fair and mutually acceptable solution… We have been able to put all issues on the table.
Nebraskans have very strong opinions, but we sit down around a table and we solve our problems.
Author tours used to have a sense of excitement and pleasure, a sense of occasion. I remember stores having a table with wine and food. It was just a real evening.
I didn’t choose ‘Silver Spoons’. I think my mom and agent chose it because at that time there was a lack of patience on some of the people that were in charge of my career. I think there was a big offer on the table, and I think they took it.
Eating well, being around the table with the family or friends or relatives – it doesn’t get any better.
Again, I think we have much greater diplomatic weight by having all of us sit on the same side of the table wanting the same thing, and putting it to the North Koreans.
My mother was a very big inspiration. She loved fashion. I loved art in school, and I was very good at drawing. I could sit at the table forever and just dream up collections and draw.
The issue of Kashmir is both political and emotional in nature. Any pragmatic and lasting solution needs India and Pakistan sitting together on a table and discussing a solution that addresses the aspirations of Kashmiris and does not compromise the territorial integrity of either India or Pakistan.
An orange on the table, your dress on the rug, and you in my bed, sweet present of the present, cool of night, warmth of my life.
My folks are economists and have taught economics and social science so I grew up with those kind of conversations around the dinner table.
I do not literally paint that table, but the emotion it produces upon me.
The best meal I’ve had was in Tavarua, an island in Fiji. It was just before sunset. A bunch of guys had just caught all this yellow fin tuna; they literally brought this huge wooden table down to the sand, pulled the tuna from the boat, dropped it on top of the table, pulled the skin off and sliced the tuna up.
The distributor used to get 10, 12, 14 percent in most cases, but the App Store or Steam – they’re taking 30 points. So clearly, they’re viewing what they bring to the table in the digital environment to be more valuable than distribution.
I feel very protective in the first draft, when all the pieces are coming together. I work in a way that is not linear or chronological at all, even with the short story. I will just be writing bits and pieces, and then when I have all the pieces on the table, that for me is when it feels like the real work begins.
Ten years ago I said, you know, my goal is to be able to get food on the table. What I’m trying to say by that is trying to create a vibrant, capable and effective middle class. The quicker and stronger that we can be able to do this, the easier it is for political reform to move forward.
The fact is I’m an opportunist. I’ll take materials around me, materials on my table, and work with them as I’m searching for an idea that works.
In a patriarchal society like ours, women have to fight hard for a seat at the table. Boys are privileged over girls from birth. Equal opportunity and access for both girls and boys must become the norm.
When I’m drawing, I only do that at home, really, at my drawing table. But writing I could do in other places. So I’ve written in airports, in hotels, different places.
A Supreme Court decision that concessions of this sort were unconstitutional would have taken them off the table and actually increased the effective sovereignty of elected officials.
When I was young in L.A. and I couldn’t get into clubs or restaurants, I would call imitating celebrities and get a table, and it would work often. I was either Stallone or Mickey Rourke: ‘This is Sly. I may be late, but my buddy Hank will be there early.’

I’ll be at the table, as I’ve been, willing to talk to any Republican who says, ‘Look, my country is more important, this pile of bills is not going to go away, the challenges that we have is not going to disappear, we need to cross that divide.’ I’m ready. I’m waiting.
What I’m bringing to the pop table is that I’m not pretentious.
My method is much like choreography. I don’t sit at a table. I work in a room with people.
What I bring to the table to help my team is that I’m never going to quit.
There were rumors I wasn’t going to die. The whole cast was sitting around the table reading the script. I fell on the floor – I’m not kidding. I looked up at Katherine Heigl, and she was crying.
I grew up in a little town in east Texas where it was really not on the table to question certain things like whether you should eat meat or not.
I don’t know that I’ve ever looked at baseball like a purely casual fan. That’s just realistic when you grow up with it putting food on your table, and with it taking your dad out of town.
When fathers come home after a tough day at work, they should come home to serve, like my father did, teaching lessons around the dinner table and leading the family in worship and prayer.
The Paris peace talks kept a roof over my head and food on the table and clothes on my back because if something was said going in or coming out, I had the rent for the month.
My wife, Sharon, and I started with nothing when we got married. I was driving a 1902 Pinto and eating off a card table.
There are certain parts of the home that I think embellishment feels cozy and inviting. Then there are other environments, for example, the living room, where I don’t have a ton of items on the table.
Peyton Manning is doing things that I think no other quarterback in the history of the league has done at the line of scrimmage… I just think they are a team right now that’s got a real chance to run the table.
I always loved putting on shows – when you’re the youngest of seven and five are older sisters, you’ve got to get noticed somehow! I did puppet shows and magic shows… even ventriloquism. My doll’s name was ‘Dan,’ and I used to write these scripts, and my schoolmate hid under the table and supplied Dan’s voice.
Oliver Reed was a great man who did things his own way. He used to come into Harveys, my restaurant in Wandsworth, and sit on the floor to have a drink before going to the table.
Honestly, the All In women’s locker room was such an inspirational group of women. What I love about all the women involved – Chelsea, Britt, Madison, Jordynne Grace, Brandi Rhodes, Tenille Dashwood, Penelope Ford, Mandy Leon – is we all bring something so different to the table for a common vision.
I put steam on the table by being an actor. That is how I live. The longer I live, the more expensive it becomes. So I do my work. And I can’t be immensely picky. How many beautiful scripts come in one’s lifetime? I have had more than anybody, practically.
I think you’ll see if you look at ‘Up’, we’ve focused a lot on labor (and the forces trying to keep labor down) and have featured everything from Wal Mart workers, to on-the-ground organizers, to union presidents to restaurant workers sitting at the table sharing their experience and expertise.
