I always looked up to LeBron, how he came to the game.
I’ve always been one to kind of, I’ve always wanted to be the guy. I watched, my favorite player growing up was LeBron. One thing I noticed with him was, it’s always on him at the end of the game.
A lot of players will tell you, ‘When I was a kid, I watched Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron, Magic, and I wanted to be just like them.’ For me, it wasn’t like that at all.
Most people, they’re dug in. ‘Michael Jordan is the best player, and there’s nothing LeBron can do.’ A lot of people dug in that LeBron is whiny and he complains, he jumped teams, he wants all the best players. And once you have your mind made up on a particular topic, there’s no moving you off of that.
We live in an impatient world. Everybody is always looking for the next big Kobe, the next big LeBron, the next big Twitter.
There’s no doubt that there is star treatment. It’s discussed in the meetings. Obviously, people don’t pay an enormous amount of money to sit in those courtside seats to see players like Kobe, LeBron, Shaq – all the greats – sit on the bench and be in foul trouble.
You think Jay-Z is going broke? LeBron is going broke? These guys have figured it out. They came from poor backgrounds, broken homes, and they figured out how to be businessmen. They become new aspirations.
I’m a LeBron guy, so anywhere he goes that’s my team.
LeBron’s a good player, but I look at him as just a regular guy to me.
LeBron James has proven he can lead by example. My wish for LeBron is to understand the following: He’s an exceptional leader because he leads by example. The next step on the road to Legend, which he’s already on, is to trust he’s the best player in the best system anywhere in basketball.
I was just really excited for the city of Cleveland. I think the city, more than anybody, deserves this. They deserve to have LeBron coming back.
