I think that designers have an incredibly broad creative repertoire. They solve. They create images of perfection for any number of clients. I could never do that. I’m my client. That’s the difference between an artist and a designer; it’s a client relationship.

History does influence our lives – every moment. We never sort of live our lives in a linear fashion. We always have these memories and these images from our past that sometimes we’re not even aware of, and they sort of shape who we are.
Some things can be perfectly expressed by sound alone and images would only be disturbing. Other times, sound would be possible, but visuals are much stronger and closer to what I want to express and then again, they sometimes overlap perfectly.
Both expectations and memories are more than mere images founded on previous experience.
When you’re watching a movie and find yourself getting emotional, it’s because you’re bringing something personal to the images. It’s the same thing with acting. You’re bringing the essence of your core emotional being to that moment.
I’m impressed by the way some illustrators develop their images on computers, but it’s too late for me to start, and I’m still in love with paper and paint and pencils.
