In the ’80s, before I was born, my dad played in the old Soviet Top League in our home country of Armenia. He was a small but very quick striker. ‘Soviet Soldier’ magazine actually honoured him with its ‘Knight of Attack’ award in 1984.

When I first got into the league, I just used to run. Just run the route. Really no technique to it. I really couldn’t separate myself from the defender.

I remember making the all-star team in Little League when I was around 11 years old. I was not a great athlete, but I loved it, so making starting second base in the all-star was great for me. I think someone must have been sick and they slotted me in.
I’m at a point where there isn’t any wasted movement in the throwing motion. Everything is consistent and smooth. When I first got into the league, I held the ball really high. That was the standard in college, and it messed up my timing a little bit – the draw, bringing it back, then the release.
LeBron James is one of the best players in the league – and one of the best players to ever play the game.
I would hope this experience would help me if that NFL opportunity were to arise. But I also know that it’s a totally different league. There’s a lot more to it.
