I had a big troupe, a big army and it was a lot of fun. And, after 10 years of that, I just decided that I wanted to travel and do special dates. I go to Las Vegas these days.
I was a privileged observer to be there when Celine Dion opened at Caesars Palace and then the second Gulf War started. It was an odd thing to see the impact both events had on Vegas. The place was riding high after Celine, but overnight, once war was declared, it was deserted.
I don’t like Las Vegas. I’d rather be mountain biking or climbing.
I think that Vegas is one of the wildest places I’ve ever been to. You can look to your left and there’s a drag queen getting married by Elvis, to the right there is some old bird sticking quarters into a slot machine for hours.
George Klein says that Elvis had five real friends outside of his circle, and I was blessed to be one of them. I spent a lot of time with Elvis in Vegas and at Graceland.

Vegas is famous for a lot of things, and bad marriages are one of them. Margo and I are proof that you can make this work. It just takes a little effort.
With everything it has to offer, Las Vegas is an obvious destination for tourists, as proven by the over 40 million visitors the city welcomes per year.
You have in Vegas the most heterogeneous audience you’re gonna get anywhere in the country. In Boston, Chicago, Miami, you know who goes to the theater. In Vegas, you have people who only see one theater show a year, and it’s in Vegas.
I love Las Vegas. I like that Las Vegas has everything. Everything and anything you want to do, you can do in Las Vegas.
When we first moved to California from Las Vegas, we got into surfing. We figured we should do something to get in shape, but we hate working out. Surfing is definitely a work out.
Everybody loves Vegas, and everybody puts it down, especially intellectuals and artists. We have to rub our feet on it, but we’re all secretly thrilled to be there.
When I was in Vegas, people asked, ‘Did you ever regret not going to SMU?’ What? I’m in Vegas. I’m on TV every Saturday. I’m winning titles. Did I regret it? That’s a silly question.
On the court, off the court, I’m loving it here in Vegas.
I personally knew and worked with Sammy Davis, Jr. Sammy hired me to open for him at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas when I was a 19-year-old standup comedian, and that’s where my fascination with his incredible story began.

As my wife says, I’ll never fully retire, but it’ll start to slow down. I’ll continue to do the local gigs or go to Las Vegas. But I won’t be going out to Ohio to play an Indian casino anymore. Those will probably go by the wayside.
I know many people within Anonymous; I was the keynote speaker at Defcon in Las Vegas and got a standing ovation.
Guests love to be ‘wowed’ in Las Vegas. They enjoy and embrace new tastes, new flavors, and they come to expect the unexpected in Las Vegas.
With Las Vegas being so bright lights-big city, I’m not sure that women really have a clear understanding of what pageantry is and what it can do for you.
My idea is to have two bases. I keep my family in Rio, and when I have a fight scheduled, I will come to Vegas to train here at Xtreme Couture, which I consider the best place for a MMA fighter to be.
My impression of Las Vegas was in the movies and on TV. So we were all gonna go see somebody perform – I can’t recall who it was – and we went out and rented tuxedos because I thought that’s what you did in Vegas.
Aye aye, I’m not one of these people that hate Christmas. Some people think it’s all fake, but I like that kind of thing. It’s like Las Vegas. I know this isnae really the Eiffel Tower and that isnae really the Statue of Liberty, but it’s just a bit of fun.
I would love to have gone there, fight at Madison Square Garden or a casino in Las Vegas, but there are no American heavyweights now who can pose a challenge to me.
It’s not so much about conquering Madison Square Garden or Vegas. The opponents who I fight will take me all around different venues and arenas. I need to conquer opponents.
Almost six years ago, before I was given the incredible opportunity to be in ‘Leaving Las Vegas,’ I was going through a long period of artistic confusion. I’d spent years doing work that hadn’t pushed me enough, and I was beginning to wonder if I had any talent.
I’m not deciding what the artist is going to write about because it’s the artist. They’re gonna have to sing that song for the rest of their life. When they’re old and they’re 80 and they have their show in Vegas, they’re gonna have to sing that song for the rest of their life.
It was in 1969, and I thought, wow, you know, I really didn’t want to do a TV series. You know, I had my own act, and I was performing in Vegas and doing all of these exciting things.
I keep saying, the older I get, the younger my audience gets. Because ‘Wicked’ and ‘Rent’ and ‘Glee,’ each one was a young audience, so it’s a great thing to have, so then you know that as they get older and have kids, they’ll maybe still buy tickets to my shows when I’m 80 and in Vegas!
I’ve been a little bit Las Vegas and casino-obsessed. So, I love some trashy glamour… and I think nothing’s trashier or more glamorous than a bit of a sheer number!
I met Evan Rachel Wood, James Woods, Kevin Bacon at Sundance. Steve Buscemi is pretty laid-back. I met Judy Greer in Vegas, and she was cool.
In Las Vegas, the magnitude is impressive, but the humanity is gone. It feels like you’re being intimidated out of your money instead of inviting you to come have this experience.
Everytime I go to Vegas, I seem to incur some kind of fine.
I came to Vegas because I work 20 days a month here; I couldn’t live anywhere else.

Along the way I stopped in Vegas because I had always wanted to see Caesar’s Palace. So I stopped there and won $2,500 on a slot machine! It was amazing.
I come from a duo, actually, quite literally. My parents are Linda and Eddie, and they had an act in Vegas called ‘Love’s Way.’

I’ve never played in Vegas. I’ve only been to the airport, but even the airport was exciting. Just flying in, looking out the window, you feel the pull of it, like it’s some evil force pulling you in, like Mordor.
If LeBron James is playing in Las Vegas, the arena would be sold out, and it would be rocking. If LeBron James is playing for Las Vegas, it would be beyond sold out.
Vegas is my town, my people.
I had a great time doing Vegas. It’s just that it takes a lot of time.
In all my years in show business – on stage, clubs and TV shows – my audience has been 75 percent white. In Las Vegas and Atlantic City I look out at the crowd and only see a few black faces here and there. But I can’t allow myself to be conscious of the race factor. I couldn’t perform my best under those conditions.
In ‘Honeymoon in Vegas,’ after Nicolas Cage tells his fiancee that he’s given her away to pay for his gambling debts, she gets into a tizzy as if she were a 6-year-old. I couldn’t believe it.
My father was an insurance man and a small-time gambler. He was a good man, but he had an eye for the racehorses, and I saw how it used to bother my mother. I’ve never gambled a dime. Never, in all those years in Vegas.
Phoenix and Las Vegas have grim long-term prospects. On top of oil-and-gas problems, they will have terrible problems with water and the ability to produce food locally. I suppose it shows how delusional the public is, and how our institutional controls have decayed – for instance, lending standards.
